March 1 - York theMCDLWell first of all, Roxanne Emery went down very well as the support act. There was a huge queue of people willing to pay £5 for a signed version of her EP during the interval (before Matt came on). I went out to the foyer after her performance thinking that she was good enough that I wanted to offer some modest congratulations – and it seemed like half of the room had felt the same way! Although I’ve brought home a signed CD, I felt like purchasing it was more of a gesture to say “I want to reimburse you for your performance” than born of a desperate compulsion to listen to her tracks again. Personally, I felt that she played 1 or 2 more than was necessary considering that it wasn’t her that we were all there to see – but she was a lovely girl and the music was inoffensive (surprisingly good, in fact). As I think people noticed on here a while back, her voice is like a more powerful version of Janet Devlin’s. Anyway, onto the main event. I suppose it goes without saying that it was very surreal to see Matt in real life for the first time (he was very enthusiastic and gracious throughout), so I’ll skip onto the music. Basically, anyone who enjoyed the MTV sessions would have loved it, as those exact band arrangements were played – I include myself in that group! And I suppose the biggest treat as far as I was concerned was hearing the new interpretations of the *other* studio tracks. Most of them were big improvements, and benefitted from Lorenzo’s impressive (though occasionally undermixed) guitar work and losing that layer of polish provided by the strings on the CD. A part of me is unsure about Beat of a Breaking Heart because although the way it was transformed was very cool, that was the one track where I felt the string arrangement on the CD really helped define and punctuate the drama. It was received incredibly well mind you and got a standing ovation from many (as did most of the “acoustic part” of the set – the crowd went mental at the beginning and end of First Time – a couple of the women next to me screamed “ohhhh s**t!!!” which made me laugh ). For me, Lost and Found was a surprise highlight – possibly my favourite track of the gig actually. No female vocals, really nice, subdued percussion work and some inspired guitar textures contributed by Lorenzo through an electro-acoustic guitar plugged into his pedal board. It was beautiful and very tastefully done – as was the set actually, on a completely unrelated note. Loads of weird lampshades were on stage that just … worked, somehow. I was glad to hear First Time live as I’d prepared myself that it wouldn’t be played – Matt sang it a key lower than he did on Loose Women, but it was still very powerful (an old man a couple of rows ahead looked completely stunned!). In fact, by playing some of the songs a step down he was able to really belt out parts that he hadn’t before. Umm I’m trying to think of things to say. Oh, the keyboard guy’s Mum was in the audience and it was her birthday. Matt got everyone to sing her happy birthday … she was sitting an arm’s length away from me. There were a few gasps when Matt devoted Amazing to a woman in the audience who, as far as I’m aware, is someone we haven’t heard about. Though I might be wrong. I figured he didn’t mean it in *that* sense. In fact, Matt kept making introductions that sounded funnier than he meant them to – often, when he was talking about male friends he unintentionally said things that sounded a bit … well, inappropriate, really ! But everyone only laughed/called out in good humour. Everyone was on their feet by the end … and while it seemed fitting to end on Many of Horror and Run for Your Life, I couldn’t help but feel that Matt and the band were at their best when they were performing the original material. Gah, I feel like I’m missing loads of stuff. I’ll stop for now though, I think. All in all, it was fantastic, and no-one who likes the live videos that are already circulating will be disappointed. Matt’s voice was amazing and note-perfect pretty much 100% of the way through (though he still had his little mouth spray!!). I’m so glad I went and if today is anything to go by, everyone is in for a treat on the rest of the tour ! ********************************************************* wkdstepmotherMorning people - well that was an interesting day. I'm goin to do a blog later about the gig itself but thought I'd post general gossipy bits on here first. It was all a bit surreal. Went round the back of the venue to check out likely signing spots after we'd dumped out stuff at the hotel, only to be told Matt was arriving shortly so we waited. Band turned up first in one car and promptly dropped their stuff all over the floor which was hilarious. Matt and Will arrived a few minutes later and will said they were late so he couldn't come out. Conversation ensued after which time he came anyway and Will looked more and more green as the time wore on!!! Matt was lovely. He really is better looking and more charismatic close up and such as sweetheart, nice to everyone even one or two that seemed a little (being kind) overexcited (being unkind) deranged. He came over for pictures and Sam (very demurely of course) said look at this pointing to her tits. He looked momentarily perplexed (presumably thinking a request to sign said chest was about to follow) and ten he realised what it was an he laughed his head off saying - that is brilliant!! And got his phone out to take pictures. A surreal moment then with Matt photographing SAMs tits and me videoing his doing it (Id like some credit for this except that I thought I was taking a photo - doh) all great fun and very sweet. Once he ( finally) went in we headed off for food and literally 10ins later Ali tweeted the pic that Matt had texted to him which set Sam off again ) and we'd only just calmed her down LOL) After that was all quite low key until we were in the upstairs bar (which very few people seemed to have discovered) Roxanne whatever was on but Sam Pete and I didn't go in ( primarily because I was charging my phone Sneakily (cheers Tilly!) Anyway we are chatting away ( well mostly Sam was still squeeing about her picture being all over the Internet and the fact that she'd gained. 6 new twitter flowers as a result) and Paul Bullen Walks in to use the facilities. We shout hello and he looks quite shocked that we knew who he was. Went he came out he stopped for a chat and pictures. I've said this before but even more so in the flesh that boy is FINE!!! Gorgeous!! And also totally lovely and normal. He said he didn't usually get asked for pictures so seemed to enjoy his 5 minutes He was even more amused with the Ali teeshirt though more by the fact that Ali has his own merchandise than anything else. He said he knew him and which point we may have freaked him out by over exposure of our detailed knowledge of his life (Sam saying congrats on being an uncle may have swayed it) but we seemed to successfully deflect it by Blaming his mother's twitter habits. By this point the support is due to finish and I said hadn't you better go you're due on stage in about 15 mins and he looked at bit flustered and said oh God yeah and off he went. We went down to meet the others and I was banging on about how gorgeous he is when the woman behind us tapped Sam on the shoulder cos shed just seen her picture on twitter and it was Kate his mum at which point I wanted to dirk up and die!! Anyway she was as lovely as the Highbarn threadies said and once the show got going we all sang happy birthday to her and she went VERY red (but in a good way) As I said I'm not going to talk a lot about te show itself cos I'm gonna blog about except to say it was fantastic. It wouldn't have been any better for me if he'd thrown in a couple of more covers. It felt like a full show even the funny table lamps seemed to fit. He was not quite so overly grateful as I've seen in the past ( though he still said thank you about 1000 times) which I think is a sign of growing confidence. He said I'm not a compete ass I've just done some bad things (which was funny) but then there was a LOL moment when his introduced Slowly which most people see as this big love song by saying it was about a friend who turned about to be much more "for one night" so the great love song is about a one night stand with a mate (note to whatsoever - NOT AIDEN!!!!) Anyway it was a fab night and great to meet up with the girls and new actual buddies rather than cyber buddies whatsoever and Pete ( who was very patient with the squeeing and retold the airport story in all it's glory!!!) This was supposed to be a two minute post - oops!! ******************************************************** SAMofBEV[part 1] Right then folks!! I hope you're sitting comfortably, then I shall begin! So we all met at the train station and dumped bags at the hotel and took a cheeky walk to the barbican. We saw the tour bus and the truck and walked around the front a bit. We then decided it was best to pop to the pub BUT we'd just have a sneaky looksee round the back to see where Matt might appear from after the gig. SO GLAD WE DID THAT!! We get round the back and see maybe 10 people (spotty teens, young mums and two hardcores (@foundonfilm)) They said Matt was going to be here soon so we thought, why not wait a bit. A few minutes after waiting a people carrier with the band in arrived. They looked quite miserable (sorry) and causes much sniggering when Pauls bag fell out of the boot! A few minutes after Matt and Will appear in a blacked out vehicle. Will said Matt would come and chat later but I guess Mr C needed a fag coz across he came. He spoke to everyone and had pics with them all. He then came to where we were and his face just lit up when he saw my t-shirt! He was like "Thats sooooo cool, I need to get a picture of this!! Ali is gonna love it!! " To which I replied he already knew! I said I also had a hoody and showed him that too to which he photographed too! He absolutely loved the fact I had it the tshirt on!! I then asked for a picture with him and wkd tried and failed to use the camera on my phone (she had it on video mode) so I took the phone off her and he spotted that I also had Ali as my wallpaper on my phone, he again squeed ever so slightly and said "I'm so gonna tell Ali how much you love him!" To which the reply from EVERYONE was "HE ALREADY KNOWS" (said in unison) Ha ha ha ha!! He must have gone straight into the venue and text Ali coz the next thing I know I'm sat in the pub and Tilly said Ali had tweeted it!! I died, right there and then on the spot!! I was speechless (and that doesn't happen often!!) I spent the next few hours going OMG OMG!! Not only did I meet Matt but he took pictures of ME!! AAAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHH!!! Thats now twice him and Ali have spoken about me! So we got back to the venue and got in the HUGE merchandise queue! It was brilliant to see so many people buying it! I'm so chuffed for Matt! Me, wkd and Ped decided not to watch the support (I'm sure she was great, we just weren't bothered) and we sat in the upstairs bar. The lift doors open and out walks Paul Bullen! He is GORGEOUS btw!! We said hi and he sneaked into the loo (I'm quite sure he was having a number 2! Ha ha ha ha ha!! ) As he walked out I asked if we could have photos taken with him, he was shocked as nobody normally asks him! Bless him!! We had a chat for a bit, which WKD has already described and that was that. THEN we went into the auditorium and found the girls and was describing how gorgeous Paul was and how he'd spoke about Highbarn when a little voice from behind pops up and says "Excuse me, I hope you don't mind but are you SamofBev?" It was only Pauls mum Kate!! What a lovely lady!! She didn't mind us squeeing about her son at all! Ha ha!! She told us how they were getting straight off after the gig so we were so pleased we saw Matt before hand!! I'll write about the actual gig in a sec, but I'm sure you're getting fed up with my fangirling ramblings!! Heres my photos from last night as a taster!! ENJOY!! www.flickr.com/photos/samgagen/sets/72157629495547287/[part 2] So as you know, I'm not exactly shy and retiring so I'd decided I was getting up and dancing my socks off, even if I was the only one! Matt came on to rapturous applause and the gig began, me and wkd were doing as I described and got up and danced our socks off. Matt kept smiling down at us, proper giving it some. Paul gave us a few cheeky grins too! I'm not gonna critique each song but I'll let you know my thoughts on some of them. I can't remember the exact order but he had changed it ever so slightly from Rhyl. One of my favourites of the night was Pull Me Under! This is soooo much better now live then it was at KOKO, its my favourite off the album and it didn't let me down AT ALL!! My jaw hit the floor at BOABH though!! If I could swear on here I would!! He sat with the acoustic guitar and sang his heart out to it (I'd promised I'd mosh to it earlier in the day but totally forgot!! ) , then it was all over and I turn to wkd and ask "Its finished, why is nobody clapping? " She smiled and said "Just wait" Then came the most amazing part of the night!! It was spectacular and I literally sat with my jaw on the floor for the whole "surprise" Wkd kept glancing at me and laughing at my expression!! By the end of it all the whole audience was on their feet and judging by Wills tweet after this was a brilliant thing to happen!! Wasn't at all disspointed that he did FTEISYF instead of Reflections!! It was stupendous!! His voice and Pauls keys were sublime!! He wiped a few tears away during the standing o he got for it!! It was so great to see Matt rocking out with Lorenzo and the drummer. He looked so natural!! He was enjoying himself so much and he always seems so shocked at the massively positive reaction he gets! Can't say much more coz it'll just be gushy and I'll make myself sick!! Just wow though, if he's as good as that every night of the tour we are all in for some MASSIVE treats!!!! [/QUOTE] ******************************************************** wildhoneyHellooooo!! yes its me - I lurk a lot but just dont have the time to post - its hard enough just trying to keep up just reading let alone posting aswell!!! I really don't know how you guys do it - I did come out of the woods a while back pulling twigs from my hair for the last gigs up in Scotland - too exciting to stay silent - I honestly could not believe it when I ended up sitting next to you guys last night- sooo funny after following you all for so long on here -since the live shows in fact:o:o I just couldn't bring myself to introduce myself infront of my other friends - they were already a little shocked at my obvious 'Matt knowledge' last night so I thought seeing me meeting a bunch of strangers like long lost friends may of been a step too far!! I am known as being a bit of a music nut(huge actually) but anything related to X factor or infact any kind of talent show/ reality tv I avoided like the plague ................until I happened to hear Matt.......now hooked.....on Matt not the X factor!......i now loathe the obvious manipulation even more than I did before (I dont have anything against the boys but the 1D pushing by Simon C to the detriment of Matt and Rebecca makes me sick) Anyway......the concert.....was AMAZING!!!! and I have been to lots in my time - I was shocked by the quality of his voice live......no I wasn't really....I knew it would be that good;)......but my poor friends had no idea I have dragged them to see various bands over the years and love watching their reactions but this was truly hilarious - proper fangirling by the end!!! Matt threw his plectrum into the crowd at the end. I looked round and all three were scrabbling on the floor looking for it! Finally one of them jumped up shouting 'I've got it!....I've got Matts plectrum!!' and promptly decides that she really must get it signed so off we went to speak to one of the roadies who told us Matt would be coming out round the back(!) Well they were off!! dragging along my other 2 friends who were sitting a little further back. One of them calmly announced that she was nearly 40 and had never been to the "back door" anywhere making us all laugh like stupid teenagers. Anyway we arrived round the back where a substantial crowd had gathered to which my friend (with the plectrum) announced 'let me through i'm a semi- celebrity.... I have Matts plectrum!!!! making lots of people laugh including one of the roadies who took it off her and got Matt to sign it. What a fabulous night and needless to say all 5 of my friends have been well and truly Cardled! Have we seen this? www.themfest.com/ I hopefully will be going on the Saturday if I can get tickets so you never know I may appear next to one of you again! ******************************************************* LinseyapI'm back home now but I still don't feel right in the head, still buzzing! Our timing could not have been better for getting to the venue. We snuck round the back and saw people there and less than 10 minutes later he arrived. The whole thing with Sam's tee was fantastic, Will was starting to hurry him up after that so i had to get in and get a picture quickly. I said hello and he gave me one of his cute hellos back and got my picture, putting my cheek against his (can still feel the stubble). We were all high as kites after that. On to the show, I bought a mug and the white t-shirt, can't wait to wear it with pride Our seats were incredible again, at first there was a girl sitting in one of our seats so it looked like one of us would separate but she was supposed to be in the row in front. I add this bit of info in just to mention I later saw her zooming in on his crotch and taking photos You already know all about the show, I think the move of Pull Me Under was a great idea, as wkd said later it pumped up the energy at the end again, after the acoustic section. At Rhyl it seemed to end so suddenly and that could have been why. Seeing FT live for the first time was incredible, there was such a reaction when it started (he didn't introduce it). Note perfect as usual. I noticed Tilly wiping away tears half way through This was the song I fell in love with him with but I think I've made it heard it too much now so it doesn't quite have the same effect? I was too busy grinning like a moron all the way through the show though to cry. I know we all know how amazing his voice is but I need to hammer this home, his voice is amazing. It never ceases to amaze me. I dunno what else i can say, just some of the notes he pulls out. Incredible  We all agreed on our favourite part of Letters, when he kicks in with the vocals. Magical, no matter how many times I hear it. Another favourite little moment of mine was a kick he did in AFN, I hope it's on YouTube Special moments for me were when he sang happy birthday to Kate Bullen and he was looking for her in the crowd and I pointed her out to him He must wonder how the hell I know who she is And near the end when everyone was standing up (finally ) I was full on singing and had my hands clasped in front of my chest (surely the biggest squeee pose possible) and he looked at me during WWC and then RFYL. Really hoping RFYL is on YouTube as well cos he looked at me and gave the biggest smile. I was singing along and forgot the words Oh so that's my "short" review (how did i write so much?). i was grinning like a nutter for the rest of the evening, I seriously couldn't stop. 50 times better than Rhyl. I think being with other people helped but I also think he's already improved. He wasn't coughing and er, lubricating as much this time so hopefully any sniffles he had the other day have cleared up. Also the sound system at Rhyl wasn't great. When he hit the big notes you could hear his voice was amazing but there was crackling on the speakers which wasn't so good. Okay gonna shut up now. Just to add at the end, I'm so glad I joined this place, who else could I spend the day with and talk about nothing but Matt Cardle? The next two weeks are gonna draaaag!! ********************************************************* tillysteeth1Morning y'all! Sorry but I fell asleep! Before my son infact :. Woke up on the couch with a crick in my neck and roasting half to death! It seems all this Matt adoration has left me a wee bit knackered This is LONG so sorry about that but it all has to be said Ok doke here goes..... Met the lovely Pete and Carlyn at waverley and don't know why I was so nervous! Both fab and brilliant!! Arrived in York after a couple of cheeky wee wines on the train to calm the old nerves and Met Wkd and Sam and waited for whatsoever, The day was actually here !! sauntered up to the hotel only to find they had given one of our rooms to some other random person so they had to go up and 'peep' into various rooms until they found us an empty one . That was a bit odd ! Stuff dumped and another layer of lippy later we walked to the barbican and had a wee walk round the side. A few peeps standing about at the back so we thought we had nowt to lose by hanging about as well. At this point I will add I am really quite shy and like to be on the 'peripherals' of things so in truth, I didn't really think Matt would appear and the thought of him doing so horrified me. Sounds ridiculous but that is exactly how I felt . Don't get me wrong I was desperate to see him and you all know I love the bones of him but would have preffered to be hiding in a postbox or something when he came out so I could see him but he wouldn't know I was gawping at him.......Hmmm just read that back and it sounds weird. Anyway the band arrived swiftly followed by Matt. As you all know Will came over and said he wasn't coming out as he was fashionably late as per usual but Matt ignored that and over he came followed by an increasingly nervous and frustrated Will! He did his thing, spoke on the phone to fans, gave time to everyone. The boy is an absolute diamond!! As he got closer I reckoned I might be sick. Not because he was disgustiing or anything like that you understand just because it was all getting a wee bit surreal. I really wish everyone could have seen his face and the genuine and massive delight when he actually clocked the 'the T shirt' !!!!! That was worth the trip alone! You all know the T-shirt story so I wont go into it again except to say that Sam, Carlyn Pete and Wkd were so calm and cool about it all and Whatsoever and myself just stood and grinned feeling about 12 . I took pics for Carlyn and just gawped a litle more. Last thing to say on the T shirt story is that up close and in the flesh its little wonder woman have a habit of falling a wee bit in love with him. 100 x more gorgeous in reality (this is fact as I spent a good 5 minutes studying him closely) - and far more charming (didn't think that could ever be the case) . So all very giddy we staggered about York looking for somewhere to eat, drink and reflect. Gig time and our seats were ridiculously good. Bang in the middle and the stage was so close you could actually see the seams of Matts Calvins. We watched the support. She was actually very good. Lovely voice but as with most supports unless you are familiar with the songs then they kinda blend into one especially when the tempo and arrangements are similar for them all. Voice wise - think Janet Devlin but better, sweeter and less grating I think. Then the girls and Pete came down having met Paul on the way back from his 'pit stop' and got their piccies and it was a very LOL moment when the fangiriling was going on the realise that his mammy and daddy were sitiing right behind us !! Matt - Well he came on looking very crumpled and hot. Neither tucked in or out, well sort of out because the shirt was on the short side and for that we were eternally grateful (whoops did I say that out loud ) Music - Band were fantastic. All amazing but Lorenzo is some player. Every song 1000 % better live and Matts voice was just awesome! I also loved how in a couple of songs he was doing some what I call 'Seven Summers' pronunciaitions. By that I mean when he sings the second 'say it it aint true' in paved Paradise he sings true sort of like traaoo. Am I making sense? well if I am. I can't remember where and when but he did that a couple of times and I actually squeeeed. Arrangements for everysong was million times better than recorded. Highlights for me were 'Letters' All time fave song and the live version is out of this world. I cry everytime. I have no idea why  Its the build up and the belting out of the big notes. Goosebumps galore. Only complaint is now when I go back and listen to the album version it now sounds stilted but only coz hearing it live at York and watching koko version far too much has made it seem that way. First time which was beautiful. And again complete composure until that big belty bit at which point I caved and cried. Total sap BOABH Just like nothing else its awesome!!. Vocally so beautiful then the change. WWC (which for some reason I have started calling we will collide ) adore this now. simplicity accoustically is gorgeous Starlight was several thousand levels up live! Thankgod everyone stood for this. I wanted so much to stand for the whole thing but because Im tall (and had on heels) I felt too conspicuous so sat but not happy about it. WOW Not my fave on the album but fantabulous live. Infact the only song which I liked less was Lost and Found. I really dont know why. Because its one of my faves. Whole set was phenomonal. Only slight gripe is that i feel like a spoilt child because I WANT TO HEAR UNINVITED but it wasn't to be and to be honest his set didn't feel short in the slightest. Yeah he could have easliy accomodated 2 more songs and that would have been the icing on the cake but it was fab without. The company was bloody brilliant! So great to talk nowt but Matt for almost 2 days. Its almost like AA for fangirls and boys. Such a great laugh. Such a pity Pete was sitting away from us. Especially when there were 2 empty seats near us where peeps hadn't turned up The merch table. Great merch, nothing tacky and I felt like Matts mum when I saw the humungous queue for his stuff. PROUDNESS. The fact that Matt 'didn't think anyone would to buy anything' sums him up. Billion times better than he gives himself credit for Crowd were actually great in between songs. Got a fantastic reception but its odd sitting down to songs like Letters and Stars. A mad woman ran up to the stage and shoved a book under Matts nose when he was playing guitar. That was just bizarre. And he hugged a lady called Rita. Wkd and Sam totally rocking out, Carlyn gettin a wee bit emosh during slowly and Whatsoever and me smiling like dafties from start to finish. Great night Last couple of things. Levels of Love for that boy have gone up even more. Such a great musician/vocalist/songwriter and good natured lovable if slightly dippy sweetheart. Did I say he is scrumptious? Only downside is that my expectations of blokes are now so ridiculous I am now gonna be forever single. Dam you Matthew Sorry that was rambling - typos I am sorry about if ya see any ********************************************************* GingerHeartQuick report on York: I got there with hardly any time to spare, but had heard on the way about some threadies meeting Matt, yay! And SAM having her pic taken and sent to Ali And then seeing Paul Bullen and talking to Kate, happy for you all! My seat wasn't great, but I'd been told beforehand by a friend that there wasnt a bad seat in the place, and I did have a great view! The venue felt intimate, and the atmosphere throughout the gig was brilliant. I enjoyed Roxanne Emery more than I thought I would, she was great, though it felt like she was on for ages cos I was so eager to see Matt! I won't talk too much about the actual gig, but I think there were a couple of slight changes to Rhyl's set list? Of course there was FTEISYF, which was definitely a highlight. Although Reflections is one of my favourites, I'm so glad it was swapped for First Time, which, of course, he sang beautifully I was nearly crying, and it was really nice that it was a surprise too, I wasn't expecting him to sing it at all Other highlights were BOABH, I'd avoided watching the vid so the surprise was still a surprise, and wow, you're all in for a treat if you haven't been yet it had always been one I listened to least from the album, but that's changed now!*Ive come away from the gig with a lot of new favourites I think the order of the songs really worked, and of course he sang everything amazingly. His voice is just so stunning, and it showed in that he didn't need anything fancy, just his voice and the brilliant band. He was of course the gracious, lovely man we know him to be, and the whole night was unbelievable, it was without a doubt one of the best gigs I've ever been to, I couldn't fault it Can't wait to future ones, hopefully meeting some of you lovely lot at some too! That's actually a longer report than I intended ********************************************************* PedskySorry bit late with my review from York:o Don't really have much to add to what has already been said but had a very nice train journey down with Tilly and we had a good chat about Matt's music, The X factor and what we did for a living. As has been said i didn't go in to watch Roxanne Emery coz i knew she sounded a bit like Janet Devlin !!! so after she finished myself, Sam and Wkd went in and this is when we saw Kate and her husband and we had a little chat!! So i think most people know i was sitting elsewhere, so i went up to my seat and waited for Matt and the Band to come on! particular favourites for me "Letters" "Faithless" " Pull me Under" "WOW" and "Starlight" i really liked what they did with BOABH and also i really like how they mixed it up with the guitars and made the tracks a bit different from the album itself!! Would have been fantastic to hear "Uninvited" It would have gone down a storm! Having already witnessed it in Inverness:D So after the Band went off i went back down to the front only to find out that the seats beside Sam and Wkd had been empty #totallygutted wished i had stayed down a little longer before the gig started I am really looking forward to Glasgow now due to the fact that it is standing! i was really pleased when everybody got out of there seats for starlight

March 3 - Cambridge moomin123[part 1] Hi everyone - had such a good time yesterday, totally amazing. Mita arrived safely and on time we headed off to Cambridge after a little bit of faffing around by me. Arrived in Cambridge about 4.45pm and as soon as we walked out of the car park we could hear the the sound checking coming from the Corn Exchange – and see the queue already formed. So thankful to Cat, Cardie and Chosen for saving our place as it was impossible for me to get there any ealier! Just as we were crossing the road to join them a black car pulled up to a side door a bit further back and I saw Will (and his jumper) going into the building. Didn’t see Matt but guessing that was him arriving. My excuse is that the jumper was quite distracting in its glory. My golly it was chilly in that queue but exciting moments were probably Cat and Chosen’s trip to the pasty shop for supplies; Cardie going to chat to Kate Bullen; Chosen and Mita going AWOL on a trip to the toilets (much fretting about there being only 30 minutes before the doors opened!) ; Mummy and Daddy Cardle walking up the length of the building (obviously must have been thrilled to see the queue) and then Will coming out to meet them. Just before 7.00pm Ali and SKJ and others were loitering opposite the entrance and Cat and Cardie beckoned Ali over for a chat and photos all lovely and smiley and then SKJ came over too. The queue by this time was massive and went all the way down the length of the street and round the corner which seemed to impress the doormen/security wandering up and down. Anyway the doors opened and we all trotted in and there were Mummy and Daddy Cardle just in the foyer bit and they seemed to recognise Cardie and Cat immediately and came and gave them big hugs and by means of hanging on coattails I got one too which was lovely and they thanked us for our support which was also lovely. Much loveliness all round really. Then through the inner doors into the venue and legging it to the front. We were right in the middle just one row back – but then realised that to the side you could still get to the front and although the view wasn’t so good – there was a barrier to lean on so me and Mita and Chosen headed over there while Cat and Cardie stayed in the middle (#hardcore). Roxanne Emery came on and was really good actually - and the audience reacted very well to her. When she said that she would be in the foyer in the interval with her CD she commented that she knew the people down the front wouldn't be moving for anything after queuing for their places. Somebody from the prime spot in the middle front shouted out they'd been queuing since 9.00am! A girl behind me said to her friend - "why would you queue form 9.00am?" and her friend said "that's why they're over there at the front and we're over here!", which was kind of amusing. Anyway Roxanne went off to great applause and then it was the interval and the roadie guys came on stage to set up, pulling down a big sheet/curtain thing that had been the backdrop to reveal Matt's set - much ooooooing from the audience. Nearly time. [part 2] The gig itself was as wonderful as expected. Stars and Lovers was a good opener, Matt’s voice sounded spot on throughout – made it all seem very easy and natural. First Time probably got the biggest cheers of the night - at the beginning, in the middle and again at the end – and it was pretty awesome! Loved BOABH (despite a couple of annoying girls disrupting everyone by shouting "George" repeatedly and pushing their way to the front) and loved, loved, loved Pull Me Under – major rocking out – again as everyone says Lorenzo is outstanding and it’s so good to watch the way all the band interact together. Lost and Found is beautiful and the way Matt bounces on his stool as he sings it is quite compelling! In fact the legs were as expressive as ever throughout. Rightly or wrongly though it will no doubt be the bit where Matt forgot the words in WWC that will stand out in my memory in years to come – it was just the wonderful way both he and the audience reacted that made it one of those moments that make live shows so special and individual. The audience in general was excellent lots of arm waving and singing especially during the last few songs. A couple of extra songs wouldn’t have gone amiss to cultivate that atmosphere – and Chemical and Uninvited would have blasted the whole thing into another stratosphere – still as it was it was truly outstanding and I guess the saying “leave them wanting more” came about for a reason. Now praying that the band will be involved in the new album even more than I already was and I was already praying pretty hard. Think Cardie has covered what happened after the gig pretty thoroughly. A few surreal moments including when me and Chosen were standing in the foyer waiting for Cat and Cardie to get their merchandise extolling the virtues of Lorenzo – only to realise he was standing right in front of us! And just the general feeling of everywhere we turned there seemed to be a recognizable face. Quite bizarre. We couldn’t have timed it better for Matt coming out after our little trip to the restaurant –didn’t try and get involved in meeting him – but it was fun to watch everyone milling around and Paul’s nan having her photo taken with them. Matt’s driver seemed a pretty cool dude – nicely authoritative and protective of Matt without being rude – liked him, and when he got in the car to go Matt wound the window down and waved goodbye to everyone – which was sweet. And yes Tilly he is very beautiful in real life. So happy to be going to more concerts, would have been devastated if that was the only one. ******************************************************** chosenturboOK... tried doing a proper write-up but thoughts have once again scattered - defeated by inability to recall what songs were in which section so I'll stick to general observations and impressions... sorry!! First few songs were more or less as we've seen them performed before, with little introductions. He mentioned, slightly sheepishly, that he had quite a few friends and family in the audience who knew the stories and people involved! Lots of the audience knew the words and were singing along, which was nice. Matt worked the audience well, especially during Walking on Water, when he left his guitar behind and walked around the stage with his mic - lots of cheeky grins and a few waves. Things got (even) more interesting with the acoustic section - Matt really seemed to come into his own. And it wasn't just him + acoustic guitar... the band stayed on stage, with Lorenzo picking up an acoustic guitar and Remy on the double bass. Different songs had different combinations of instruments. This showed the bare bones of the songs and Matt's gorgeous tones in all their glory - felt privileged to witness such beauty! For First Time, I just shut my eyes to hear his voice surrounding and engulfing me - unlike Matt, I didn't cry but was in absolute awe! The acoustic section didn't exactly end with BOABH, but rather transitioned in a rather delicious way (which is all I will say about that)! By this time, Matt was totally in the zone and loving every millisecond. The pace picked up again, with the band really rocking (Matt's face when Lorenzo did a bit of a solo was the absolute picture of "rocking out"). Highlight/revelation of the night for me was Lost and Found - so, so, so gorgeous and on a completely other level than the recorded version. For the songs in the final section, it seemed Matt and the band had sort of taken them apart and reassembled them in a most brilliant fashion, really bringing them to life. The band really came into their own here and I was gobsmacked at how good they were - virtuosos, the lot of them! I really, really, really hope Matt can work with them on the next album, as they already seem to have formed a "proper" band, if you know what I mean. Combined with that incredible voice, they make an unstoppable force! (oops, hadn't meant to gush that much blame it on lack of food!) It all came to an end far too soon (anything shorter than forever would be too soon!), with WWC and RFYL as encores. He must have had a mind blank as he missed one of the lines in WWC, but as I mentioned before, he didn't seem too bothered and in fact doubled up with laughter (got quite a giggle from the audience, too!). I think that goes to show how comfortable he was and was just having an awesome time with no worries! The audience were very appreciative throughout, and gave a huge final cheer. Lots of stunned faces (including my own, I'm sure!) when the house lights came up and we all blinked at the prospect of having to return to the outside world. On the way out, spotted Daddy Cardle virtually bursting with pride - boy done good! Soooooo grateful to Moomin et al for talking me into going to Swindon and Newcastle before London, as I would now be scrabbling to find tickets to more shows!!! ******************************************************** CardlescardieHi guys, Typing like the wind because today is against me. So much to say. Some of it seems like a dream. Might not have everything right word for word. Here goes: 1) Before the gigCat and I got there at 3:30, on the premise that Matt had arrived at York at 4:00 so we might catch him. There were about 20 people in the queue at this point. We could already hear the sound check, so at that point I was a bit disappointed that we may have missed our chance of seeing the band/Matt (oh ye of little faith!). I have to say, although it seemed like a nice day, the side of the building was in the shade and it was blummin cold if you weren't moving. Anyway we passed the time trying to work out what songs were being played. Pull me under was done 4 times!!!! I can only assume it has the range of notes or whatever that covers many things! Chosen, Mita and Moomin arrived, the queue grew, we ate pasties and drank diet coke and worried about loo issues and the time passed. At one point I caught a lady with long hair and an old lady walk past us around the front. From behind I thought it could be Kate Bullen, so crept around the front to see her on her mobile. I went up and said Hi, and Kate said she was ringing Paul to see if he would come outside, but didn't suppose he could hear her with the sound check going on. She said she'd seen tweets about Uninvited and had asked him to do it tonight  but that it wasn't that easy if they weren't set up for it. They didn't in the end, but it was very thoughtful of her to ask. We had a bit of general chat - Paul's gran is a sweet old lady - I said she could come and join us round the corner for a bite to eat if she wished, which made her smile! Then I went back to our position. The Cambridge locals seemed a tad bemused at what was going on. A fair few people asked what was going on, so this response didn't seem the norm. One person walked past muttering "There must be a boy band on tonight!" As time got nearer, we had to do loo visits, only to find a sprint through the shopping centre and leaping up the escalator was involved. Every now and again the queue shifted up a bit and it seemed like we might go in any moment. EEEEK! Just before the doors opened Mummy and Daddy Cardle appeared and were greeted by Will in an (trying not to say "nasty" here) "interesting" jumper. Then Ali, SKJ and pals were spotted over the road. We waved at Ali to come over. He was quite shy - a bit "What....me?" but he came over. I said could I have a photo to show Sam, and he said that he couldn't believe it when Matt sent him that photo the other day and that Sam was amazing!! Cue general agreement among all present of Sam's amazingness. He said he was thinking of going back to the pub, and I asked whether he had tickets. He said No, which I thought odd at the time, but of course I realise now that he was in the VIP bit and didn't need them. Someone said that they thought Ali had lost some weight, and I have to say he was looking in fine fettle, bless him. Then we waved at SKJ to come over, and he was his usual jolly self, asking what on earth we were doing queuing all this time. I don't think he realised we were standing. At that point the doors opened and we shuffled along. As we went in, on my left Daddy Cardle was standing there, and I smiled and said hello. I thought he probably thought I was a complete nutter so said "Sorry, you don't know me from Adam". I'm struggling to believe this next bit. He looked at me with certainty and said "Oh I know who you are. I see it all!":eek: And he gave me a great big hug. Then I'm struggling to believe this next bit. Mummy Cardle held her arms out to me for a big hug and said "Thank you for your support" by which point I was stood gawping like a total half wit.:eek: Then Kate pointed to the door and said "Go on, get to the front!" and I sprung into action. I had to lol at the guards saying "Don't run" - made me feel like I was back at school haha! Well, I have spent some time pondering Daddy Cardle's remark. I have been wondering if he really meant me, or our little group, or fans in general, or people he'd seen on twitter, or whether he'd been peeping through the often rather mucky and steamy windows of the house *blushes* and trying to work it all out. It felt as if it was personal to me, and all I can assume is that he recognised me and Cat from our trip the The Five Bells, because my photo has never been on the internet that I know of. Anyway, I was utterly gob smacked. And the gig hadn't even begun........ 2) The gigWell I was chuffed to bits that we had such a great position in front of the mic. Moomin, Chosen and Mita went to side more so they could actually touch the barrier. All thought of the cloakroom and loo had been abandoned as soon as we walked in, so I ended up with bits tied around my waist and bag, and tried not to think of the loo. The place was rammed. We kept having a look over at the balcony (Spotted SKJ having a pose there lol) and the VIP bit which was sort of under the balcony. Roxanne Emery was pretty good, but if I'm honest I'd rather rob a couple of songs from her and give them to Matt. It was a lovely moment when I spotted Matt through the doors at the side of the stage, pacing about, glugging water, psyching himself up. What can I say.......you don't need me to add the superlatives. For those worried he would be too emotional, he was just fine. A few tears in his eyes yes, very thankful as always, but comfortable and happy are the best words to describe him, really enjoying himself. He is very good at catching the eye of individual crowd members and making them feel special. One girl in front of me got the Cardle charm, and I swear she visibly melted in front of me! He was exceptional as always with FTEISYF and Letters (done the "proper" way) and my personal faves such as All for nothing and Slowly were up a gear live. The girl in front of me was taking video on her camera, which looked excellent, so I hope that crops up somewhere. Walking on water - made me laugh when he said this was about someone he knew and it took them 10 years to realise that they didn't actually like each other! Made me think it must be Lauren! One point about Lorenzo - there were moments when he was doing his stuff when I just had the hugest grin on my face. I think his is a great asset to Matt, and I feel he is really lucky to have got him in the band. Matt in the flesh is more gorgeous than I can really explain. There is something about even the best video that does not capture his loveliness. And I *might* be a little bit more in love *if possible*. BTW I have been lolling my head off at all the ironing and shirt talk from last night ha ha! I had to laugh at one point a girl near me shouted out "saggy/sexy (not sure which) arse" at his jeans, and as he turned his back to us he hoicked his jeans up in response. WWC was just so so so so lovely, hearing everyone sing along. When he forgot his words he bent over and the whole place laughed with him! I was hoping for Uninvited, but hey.....I was a wonderful gig, and I'm sick as a pig that I can't go to Swindon next Saturday because of a stupid school quiz night!:mad::mad::mad: As we walked out of the venue back to the foyer to look at the merchandise, Daddy Cardle was standing at the balcony and waved. I waved back and he pointed at where I'd been standing and said "I could see you!":eek: At which point I though "Fudge me, this stalking lark works both ways then!":eek: He asked if we were going to Liverpool, and I said No. He said "Aww, shame that's my home town". I said it was a bit far, then added, "Mind you, we're going to Newcastle" which got a big thumbs up from him. Well, I've got a very soft spot for Daddy C now. The truth is to look at he resembles my own Dad, who died young at 44, a great sadness to me. If Daddy C is by chance reading this - you really made my day, thank you so much. xxxx We went through to the foyer, where the queue was immense for stuff - I got a program (such beauty!!!!!) and a T shirt. Wendy was upstairs and I asked her If Richard had been up and dancing. She said he'd been trying to heckle but no-one was taking any notice of him! Then Will walked down the stairs where we were standing and I said "Hi Will". He looked at me in a cautious "I don't know you" way, but Dady C was with him and gave me a big smile. So we were out and desperate for a drink and the loo. But the excitement hadn't finished yet......... 3) After the gigWe wandered up the road and looked in a couple of pubs but they were quite busy with no seats. Turning round from the second who should we see but Tom walking up with his girlfriend. "Hi Tom" I called, feeling like my life was getting slightly unhinged at this point, and he smiled and went in the very pub that we decided not to go in!!! We spotted a small restaurant, had a drink and a few nibbles, then heading back towards the venue and the car park. The tour bus had pulled round the front and people were loading up. Paul was stood talking to some folks, but went off up the road as we drew near. The feeling was that Matt was about to come out and sure enough he appeared. Will said "We've only got a couple of minutes" (laughing glances exchanged between us - I daresay he says that a lot, bless him!) What followed was one of the most surreal moments of my life (minus post box). There I was, stood in this street in Cambridge. A couple of arms lengths away was Matt, being hugged, kissed, sniffed, generally smothered and I'd like to bet someone had a lick as well! Then Ali wandered past with his girlfriend. Someone shouted out that Lorenzo was behind me, and I turned to see someone go over to him. To the left Tom wandered back up the street and Cat called out "See you in Swindon!" which made him smile (I'd always though he was rather serious before!). Then Remy wanders along and finally Paul reappeared. Within my panorama of view were all these heroes of mine and I didn't know what to do. The only way of getting to Matt would have been to be very rude and barge, and I felt the people who had stood and waited deserved his time rather than those of us who swilled beer post gig. So I went up to Paul and said Hi. He looked at me and said "Do I know you?" as if he actually might. I said we had exchanged e mails some time ago....... [Small aside here.......some months back I was looking on Paul's web site and saw that he was remixing an album that was available on I tunes. I was considering buying it, so e mailed him via his web site to ask how long this was likely to be. He replied saying it was best to hang on, and that wasn't baby Matilda really sweet!!!!!! It only turns out he had a friend with the same real life name as me, who had just had a baby. A couple more e mails were exchanged, but that was some time ago.] So Paul said "Oh, it's........(real life name)" and I asked if I could have a photo with him, which he duly obliged after a couple of tries because it's not that easy on my phone. As Cat was struggling with it - I can't believe I'm going to write this. Kate Bullen said "Don't worry I'll get it" and took a photo of me and Paul on her own camera!:eek: Bejesus! Anyway, I asked Paul if he was going to be at the guitar festival at Highbarn, and he asked when it was. Cat piped up "May 6th". Me "Not that it's etched on our memory or anything!" He said he'd played that a couple of years ago with Matt, and was a bit "Might be able to make it.....yes, I'm sure I can make it...." which made me really happy! Then his phone rang, and it was the driver saying he had to hurry up. Matt walked past us and got into a black range rover, and was on his way. Paul said goodbye to Mum and Gran, as we all did, and we wandered back to the car park. WELL! I am STUNNED at how it all worked out, and chuffed to bits, because none of my other tickets are that near the front, so this is the "big one" for me. London will be fabulous for meeting more threadies and hopefully getting a longer set. But I doubt I'll have that many of Matt's lovely family and my band heroes around me again. "*dies of repetitive strain injury from typing* ********************************************************* Cat24Even speed reading, that's taken a while! DD heading back to Canterbury soon so I'll have to be quick. Cardie has given a great review already so I won't go in to great detail on what happened before and after except it was an immense pleasure to finally meet 'the dreaded one'. He seemed surprised that we wanted to have our photos with him but having been in at the beginning of the MCAT, and such an important part of Matt's life, I couldn't resist the opportunity. (See previous link to my FB album ). Certainly an extra bonus getting a hug from Daddy Cardle on our way in to the venue - missed out on Mummy as desperately needed to head towards the stage. Having been in the queue for nearly 3 1/2 hours my feet were already hurting but I knew that once the music started I would forget all about them. Roxanne Emery was pleasant enough but, yes, I would have shortened her set a bit to get a bit more from Matt. Just greed, I thoroughly enjoyed everything he offered last night. Highlights for me: the acoustic version of Faithless with Remy on the double bass - it's been one of my favourites ever since the album came out and to hear it done acoustically was fantastic; BOABH - like others and for the same reasons; Lost and Found - always liked this song even though it's not penned by Matt - definitely up many levels from the produced version; Pull Me Under - another favourite with a rockier vibe; ... I could actually list every song in the set and I'm so glad I've got the chance to go again to Swindon, Newcastle and London. I truly hope that there are further surprises to come - he's definitely left me wanting much, much more. ********************************************************* mitacondBefore I write any lengthy epistle I would like to say thank you to the lovely Matt fans ………..Moomin, Chosen, Cardie and Cat ………….Oh nearly forgot OH too who all enabled me to attended this gig ((((((hugs))))). X;) Matt Cardle Tour Cambridge 03/03/2012 Venue: The Corn Exchange Prior to the gig OH finally got me to Moomin’s house at 3.30 with butterflies building we went out on our way to the venue to where Chosen, Cardie and Cat would be waiting. We had no problems as Moonin has a Sat., Nav/. off we went no worries Matt music playing in the car, I excused my singing to Moomin before starting and started to sing ……we were getting more and more excited the closer we got to our destination. Finally we arrived parked the car and hurried out to join the others who bless them had been saving our place it the queue we started waving to those already in the queue. Moomin said something about music coming from the building eeek. We were crossing the road to the venue and black car with blacked windows pulled up behind us, I did not take too much notice until Moomin said it’s Will and sure enough it was the car Matt and Will travel from gig to gig in eeek…………..if this was the sort of thing that was going to happen from now on then it was going to be fun all the way. We greeted the others in the queue it was by now 4.45 pm and they would not be opening the doors until 7.00 pm we would we survive that long? We had out Pasties to keep out the cold and then were ready for the final off. The queue moved closer to the front door oh getting exciting then we looked across the road and who did we see but a group of people we recognised a couple of them LOL R the SKP and our one and only Ali both Matts friends and muisicians from Darwyn days Yippee !!! Having met both before I pretended not to hear what was being said to Richard and said: ‘Oh is that the gentleman who has known as SKP?’ He said he had never been called a gentleman before LOL. Matt Mother and Father passed the queue and then Kate with her mother. It was getting more and more excited and we had not even entered the building. It was 7.00 pm ish and the doors were open woopee. They wanted to see out tickets here we were yeah into the building there was one more hurdle to get over security they wanted to search my bag LOL Oh if only they knew what was in there lol……………I am always in a fuddle when this happens my mind has a mind of its own I have no control over events when this happens evidenced by what happened next OMG here we go it happening again. I walked into the foyer and on my right I spied Kate Pauls mother and she recognised me I went up and gave her a kiss then as Matts Mum and Dad were standing next to her I gave them a kiss each to and said how proud I was of Matt (I had meant to say how proud they must be lol) Matts mum said We are proud of him too Dad knew too. Right I was inside the building and ready for the off we had to get to the front so that I could hang onto the rail in front of the stage Cat and Cardie stood just behind those on the front of stage rail I had to have some means of support otherwise I would not make it through the show and I was determined to do so; moving to the right of the stage there was just enough front stage rail for me to lean on with Moomin beside and behind me chosen. We were ready and by the time all of the audience had entered the building there was no way out of there we were packed like Sardines. The music begins. The support act Roxanne I am sure I have seen her perform at Highbarn anyway it was good. EEEEEEk Let The Show Begin The band came onto the stage and the audience roared then Matt appeared the audience went Mad it was wonderful to hear this they just loved him. I want to say that my impression of the whole show was that it ‘Rocked’ it was incredible……… I have mobility problems but even I was up there singing the songs and trying my best to move to the music. Prior to discussing anything else I just want to mention the colours of the lighting thrown up against a backing curtain on the stage which was hung creating its own structure. Blue is very important the colour of awareness and then they utilised orange and red and blue together it was these colours helped in creating an electric atmosphere to the show. I am finding it difficult to describe each song on its own and to be honest I don’t want to I had a totally astonishing time last night at a performance given by talented musicians and singers. Whatever I add with regard the music performed last night is based on how I felt and still feel today about the whole evening………… Matt and the band have moved on they have taken control of the songs and are creating differing renditions of several of the songs. I will not be discussing the songs as set list those performed were Stars and Lovers, Starlight FT, Slowly, Amazing, Pull Me Under, WWC, Rfyl and so on. When Matt began to sing BOABH, which I love, I thought Oh great and began to sing along with him then all of a sudden Matt stopped walked over to his guitar and woooooohooo he rocked that song along with the band …… what a transition and it worked so well I love it I am still excited by it now. They are true artists so talented. The applause was awesome everyone loved it. Stars and Lovers well Matt got the audience involved and we were on our way it’s what a great time was had by many even me hanging of the rail. LOL Starlight the audience knew the words and were singing again and 100% brilliant. Hearing Matt sing live again was such a treat and as I was moving towards the car park a male fan of Matt’s a musician himself said how talented Matt was he also said he had seen other bands perform however Matt and the band just had that something extra special. After The Show Well we bought some of the merchandise and to my mind its extremely simple but very classy. We met several of the family on their way out too………….it was now time to go for a cool oh so cool drink it must have been around 10.30 pm. We found somewhere and was just wonderful to get off our feet. Kate and her mum came up to talk to us, she knows us so therefore knows we are quite happy to talk to here. Paul’s nana is a sweetie and we discussed the show she said she had never been to this type of show but had seen them perform down the years. Now roughly 11.30 ……….On our way back we saw the enormous blue Winnie x 2 into which they were packing the gear for Matt and the band. We thought Matt had long gone however I spied this figure and knew it was him; also there were many fans calling Matt Matt ………..Will and Matt got into the black car and waved to the fans. What a fantastic evening woow. Hearing Matt sing live again was such a treat and as I was moving towards the car park a male fan of Matt’s a musician himself said how talented Matt was he also said he had seen other bands perform however Matt and the band just had that something extra special.

March 5 - Birmingham Vix1Evening all - I'm back from Birmingham and guessing i'll be first back. Firstly, sorry Pie for not meeting up, we got there quite late and my twitter wasn't working at all in there. Had to leave pronto as son was starting to feel poorly (he's only 13, really enjoyed it but is definitely coming down with something and I need him to go to school tomorrow). Before I start on the Matt bit can I just say that that guitarist (Lorenzo??) is chuffin brilliant! I will never forget the look on my son's face watching him. So, where to start? I am very much in the "album is overproduced" camp and, although I like it, it isn't where I really see Matt's future with all the strings and the X Factor-ness. I also could have done without going tonight as I'm frantically busy and haven't the time. It was something of an effort to actually get there. So, I wasn't in the best frame of mind. So.. what did I think? IT WAS ABSOLUTELY, F*CKING AMAZING!!!!!!!! That man's voice is just stupendous, note perfect and full of emotion. The songs without all the strings are incredible - I didn't think they could get that raw rockiness, but they did. Symphony hall is an amazing venue (as acknowledged by Matt), truly beautiful and with fantastic acoustics and OMG did his voice do those acoustics justice. At times you could hear a pin drop and then his voice dipped and soared. The crowd absolutely loved it - coming out the chatter was all positive. I won't run through the set list as I guess you know it by now. I had forgotten he was going to do FTEISYF and it was so, so beautiful. Other standouts for me were BOABH, and letters, which I don't reckon much to on the album but this was incredible. Son liked Letters and Slowly, Starlight got everyone up on their feet and from my position in the dress circle I felt that was how he should perform, rocking out with the crowd. WWC was amazing with just the guitar. I think my Mattiness is back ******************************************************** spiralthreadsBirmingham 5th March - Oh happy day! Getting to Symphony Hall was never going to be straightforward. So many plans had been made, unmade, remade and altered that my head was spinning before we even started. In the end the only alternative left was for me to drive us all there, so I organised a disabled parking space and set up the sat nav according to the tiny map they sent with the car park pass. Son was on a course all day and so I picked up his very excited girls from school and took them to mine for tea and a wash & brush up. We decided to make it like a party with everything set out on the table, which set the mood very nicely. Shortly afterwards his gf (ardent Matt fan) arrived at the same time as my daughter who had promised to sort my hair and makeup out for me. So, lots of dodging around feeding children, assisted by son's gf, getting drinks, being painted and powdered, and generally organising while we waited for son to arrive back in town, which he did spot on time. OH fetched him from the bus stop to save time & he did a quick change. Gf had made him a packed dinner from what was on the table and he ate this en route while he kept me on track – even a sat nav is not enough with my navigational skills. I had decided to use A roads as I knew the M6 at that time of day would be a nightmare, so it took slightly longer, but felt safer. Apart from missing a couple of turnings in the city centre, it went fairly well and we arrived just before 7.30. The security gates were fun. I had to drive really close before they automatically opened. Going in was through a security door and then along empty corridors. GD1 was worried we were in the wrong building. I worried to so we went back outside and I used the intercom to ask. We were right and a nice female voice told us which way to go. Eventually we came to some uniformed chaps sorting out a till and a coffee machine, so we asked again and they pointed us in the right direction. Roxanne Emery was just starting her set when we arrived at the bar, parched and slightly shell shocked by the journey. I knocked a glass of tonic water back quite quickly and wandered into the hall while the others took their time and came a few minutes later. Our seats were absolutely brilliant, just six rows from the front with uninterrupted views of the stage thanks to everyone being seated. THANK YOU SYMPHONY HALL AUDIENCE!! I’ve made no secret of the fact that I don’t like people standing at seated events because it makes it hard to see and with two small children, the problems would have compounded. Roxanne sang well and was warmly received with plenty of cheers and applause. I liked her songs, the only one that didn’t work for me was her cover of Presley’s Suspicious Minds. Knowing she would be singing for a long time helped as it stopped me getting impatient. Like Wkd, I like to know what’s going to happen ahead of time so I can mentally prepare. I tried to tweet a few times and also attempted to send my OH a message but there was no signal at all. That was a shame as I’d arranged to meet up with Pie and we were depending on tweets to find each other. In the event, we missed each other so here’s hoping for better luck next time. The symphony hall is a lovely building, quite small floor area compared to some, but it goes up and up with tier after tier of seating. The result is that a lot of people are relatively close to the stage with unhampered views. The acoustics are fabulous too. We had taken ear plugs for the girls in case it was very loud, but the sound was just perfect. Kudos to the architect and the sound engineers. A couple of MCAG buddies were sitting directly in front of me (Vix? not sure of DS/MCAG name differences), but I didn’t say hello straight away, thinking it would be nicer to chat during the intermission. So that was all fine, except that behind us, two girls were talking VERY LOUDLY. Actually they were shouting. I turned round to them and suggested they tone it down a bit, which they did, looking a little shocked that anyone should object to their rattle. I hoped they would shut up when Matt came on. The break came and buddies turned round and we had the lovely chat. GD’s were surprised I knew people there, they’d expected to be surrounded by complete strangers. So, loo break for the littles and excitement building whenever someone came to tune up a guitar or test the drums, until finally the band came on to cheers, followed by Matt, when the roof nearly flew off. He looked relaxed and confident. I won’t go through the set list, other than to say that the new band arrangements are very much to my liking. The youngest GD is a big Matt fan and was immediately in the spirit of it. The elder one was there for the ride, but got more and more into the music as the gig wore on. Lovely MCAG buddies, concerned that the littles couldn’t see properly invited them to stand in the gangway just in front of them. The girls declined, but how kind to offer. Then came the surprise. Matt called out my name and announced the next song was for me   My family were pretty stunned and I was grinning from ear to ear and I admit to getting quite excited, not something my family are used to. It was Amazing of course, you already know that from tweets and from my previous post. The grin didn’t come off my face for hours. I tried to keep it in check during the slower, sadder songs, but it just kept springing back, pulling up the corners of my mouth. He actually did sing it to me, which was lovely and kept looking back at me in friendly fashion throughout the show – I suspect he was wondering about the 7 Summers T, which aroused interest in several quarters. I know it didn’t exactly suit me, but it had to be worn, just that once. It will now go back into my ‘special T drawer’ and be treasured. Sorry to say the chatterers took the shine off the music for me as I couldn’t totally enter into it, but Matt was fantastic. It has been said that he’s in his element on this tour, and that is so true in ways it isn’t possible to explain. If you’ve seen him already, you will know what I mean. If you are due to see him, you’ll soon know what I mean and if you haven’t got tickets, dig down the back of the sofa for some money and go and see for yourself. While all this was going on, three women had decided to stand up, the only ones I noticed in the entire place. Unfortunately it was DIRECTLY in front of my GD’s so their view was entirely obliterated and they had to come and sit on laps further into the row. MCAG buddies were pretty annoyed as the smallest also had her view ruined. In fact she was getting quite irate with view blockers in front and my “friends” behind who had decided to start chatting again – they even talked through FT. By this time I’d tuned them out, but I’ll be reminded every time I replay one of the videos I took as there was no getting away from them. The only time they seemed to stop talking was when they sang. TBF they had good voices, I just wish they’d known more of the songs. After a while GD1 asked why Matt kept looking at her and smiling. She was on my lap at the time so I said that I’d told him she and her sister would be there and he was pleased to see them. She said afterwards he’d stuck his tongue out at her and I had to explain he was being friendly, not rude lol. After the gig, a little more chatting and we tried to find where Matt would be coming out. GD1 confided in me that she now liked Matt again and son, who was never a fan said some very complimentary things about him (not one convert, but two). Failing miserably to find where Matt would come out, we asked someone who said he was due to leave at 10.30 so we’d missed him, although she had heard he was unlikely to come out anyway due to time issues. GD2 was devastated and “thought” all the way home (she doesn’t sulk) until she fell asleep. We’ve promised we’ll try and find a way for her to meet him another time. We managed the journey back without a hitch. This time I used the motorway as traffic was sparse and it was an easy ride. I got home high as a kite and at half four I haven’t yet been able to sleep. I’d better try now, as I have to take the girls’ uniforms round at eight so they can go to school. That about covers it, although lots more details will probably pop into my head later. ******************************************************** piebaldladyGIG PONDERINGS Well, last minute rush but we all got there in time for a quick drink, purchase of merch (note. The store didn't take any cards, take plenty cash with you, n you need to check the t shirt sizes as they are being supplied from diff places n hence are not a standard size as such, I went for the white medium as was worried the small may be a tad tight for me - prog n mug to be purchased at manchester). I was right up in the sky at the back seat wise, an areil view of the stage n below, too far away for any decent sharp photos. The support act was enjoyed by all, thought she had a lovely voice then another dash out for supplies to get back to our seats 5 mins before Matt was due on c 9pm. The band came on n starting playing softly, soon folks were shouting for Matt n when he came on the place erupted! The first song being uptempo worked well I thought n I was singing along (my friend later told me she could hear me, then came amazing with the shout out which was a lovely moment. I was happily singing along when I suddenly choked up, got all teary, it's been a hard couple of days in real life n I do love this song... I can't recall the exact song order but it was bang bang bang one quality delivered tune, great vibe with those ever present wonderful vocals of his. A few songs in and he kicked into another gear, feeding off the appreciative crowd, working that stage. The acoustic set was just sublime, I found myself filling up again, stripped back his voice was just superb, when FT arrived, well I literally curled up into me seat n had to hunt out the tissues - sang in a slightly lower key to start it brought back boot amp and that moment, totally diff in delivery to the xf tour. I lept out of my seat at the end of this but folks around me stayed seated??? Boabh what can be said about this live song with that wonderful twist, I melted again to the acoustic start, that flaming tone of his, I can't help it n you could hear a pin drop in the place, when the 2nd section started it was just wonderful to listen too n absorb with Matt really working that stage to the full. Letters again always gets me with that slow start before rockin out. By this stage the sec were letting people near the stage n by starlight most folks were up! The finish is as we know the whole place singing. The acoustics were just superb I have to say, the band, my god they are soooo flippen tight it's wonderful and Matt, well he was just having the best time, really feeding off the crowd energy, all over the stage at times. I've always said his voice goes up a gear live for me, what was evident to me was that as the set progressed, he went up another gear or two even. Every penny, every vote was worth it to see his star shining bright like this - just a fantastic gig - if they don't record this tour for a DVD n live cd they need their heads talking too! It needs to be professionally recorded for all to enjoy over n over again. The end ******************************************************** goldshapeschosenturbo asked me over on the Aiden AT if i could do a review of Matt Cardle at Symphony Hall so here it goes. Before i start I'm actually only seventeen and hardly any of my friends have even given Matt Cardle a chance. I do a course in media production and they're all fairly snotty about artists who come from the x factor. But I do have one friend who actually loves Aiden and Matt but she isn't the sort of person to go to a concert and see the artist live. I didn't even buy tickets until a month ago. She agreed to go with me and we got middle seats of row A of the grand tier. I was a bit worried about the view from our seats. (I've actually sang at the symphony hall and i remember looking way up and thinking it was high. :/) So on Monday we got there thinking we would hardly see anything. BUT the view was actually great so straight away i was more excited. The support act was fairly good, i thought it was quite a long time for a support act to play but there were a good couple of songs i enjoyed. I made a joke about the set on stage being a bit small but them of course it all changed. It reminded me a lot like the john mayer set from his live in LA dvd. Then after the break Matt came on and, yeah...wow. I cant even remember the first part of the gig. I just remember leaning so far forward on my seat and clinging to the balcony. Looking a bit like this  At one point my friend actually said "Jess? are you okay?" I remember Letters standing out and then he sang all my favourites in one go. and it was...great! I found it funny when Matt introduced Faithless and said something about being with two people at once and then saying.... "i don't want to make myself sound like an arse theres enough of that."Or something along those lines, I loved that he was honest. Lost & Found was great but i felt like a lot of the people near me had never heard it before. The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face blew me away. The room was so silent and it was like when you have your headphones in when you're alone. EXCEPT obviously it was live so it was so much better. Everyone clapped like crazy near me, i really wanted to stand but i was scared of falling over the edge! The balcony was only small. Beat of a Breaking Heart is one of my least favourites on the album but live i loved it! When it got heavier it was just great. It actually was one of the best bits of the night in my opinion. Starlight was great because everyone knew the words, my friend stood up and got me up as well even though we were the only ones standing in our section. I'd completely forgotten about my fear of heights at this point and just sang along to the song. When he went off stage my friend actually started to leave and i had to explain to her that people applaud and then the artist comes back for an encore. Turns out this was her very first gig! and what a great first gig to go to. We sang along to when we collide and then stopped half way through, worried we were ruining it for the people near us but the lovely man next to my friend said "go ahead" and started to sing with us. For run for your life we were back on our feet and so were a few others. It isn't my favourite song by Matt but i can see why he would finish with it. When it was over i almost didn't want to leave my seat, if Matt Cardle could just sing live in front of me forever that would be perfect. My friend text me asking "how was the gig?" when it had finished and i wrote back "It was so good, i just can't even say how good it was. There are no words to use."And when my parents asked yesterday i said, "I knew he'd be good, but i didn't think he'd be that good"Both of those quotes sum up how i still feel about the whole concert. And right now i am defiantly going through post-gig depression. Cannot wait to see him live again! (and this is the longest post in history. sorry for my rambling...)

March 10 - Swindon Cat24 Ohmigod - feeling proper embarrassed this morning! Cold light of day puts a different slant on things! However, very much hoping that Superseasquirt does the business tonight as well. So, yesterday, at Swindon. Picked up Chosen and after a couple of little detours we arrived at Moomin's. Swapped to her car and then set off for Swindon, arriving around 5.30 as scheduled - miraculously. Strange venue - being a leisure centre with swimming pool etc, there were still lots of people around who had obviously been enjoying the other facilities. We saw a few waiting outside what was evidently a stage entrance but had all agreed we weren't going to try and meet Matt as we would have a much better chance of chat and signing things at another time A bite to eat in the leisure centre cafe and after a while saw lots of other ladies in MCAG t-shirts and I <3 Matt Cardle t-shirts. Managed to identify lovingdamusic and, eventually, JustTracy1 from Twitter. Someone took a group photo which I expect will appear on MCAG. Ginger had been delayed by getting on the wrong train but thankfully arrived well before the gig started - great to meet you Ginger! What a way to spend your birthday!! Went to find our seats - front row of block B so to the right of the stage as you face it but a great view. Moomin's photos are infinitely better than mine and I'm sure Chosen has some good ones too, as well as a few videos. For what it's worth here are the ones that were worth posting - I need camera training!! www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.3577119065886.336229.1210390875&type=1&l=c58aec990eI was a bit worried about the sound, to be honest, but needn't have done. The sound engineers did a fantastic job in what must have been a difficult venue to sort out. Have to say also that being front row is good for viewing but not necessarily kind to your eardrums. Speakers right in front of us and Roxanne Emery's drummer seemed particularly loud! She's a good singer and I did find myself with a bit of a lump in my throat when she sang 'Late' about her Mum who she lost 5 years ago. She mentioned one of her friends who had recently lost her Dad - it's nearly 4 years since my Dad passed which was what choked me up a bit. Moving on - stage being set for Matt - I still wasn't sure if I should get out the item that I'd slipped into my bag before leaving home. Trying to save my phone battery which never seems to last as long as it should, I asked Moomin to seek advice. Evidently it was a resounding yes I should so they came out! I wasn't sure when would be a good time so just held on until the opportunity arose. Matt was totally on top form last night. The whole band seemed more relaxed and 'together' - a really fantastic synergy of brilliant musicians and a first class singer. Set list was the same. It felt a bit weird staying in my seat - was desperate to stand and dance but had to make do with jigging in my seat - I was conscious of a lady in a wheelchair at the end of our row and since nobody else was standing I'd have felt even more of a lemon if I did. However, it did mean there was a moment of opportunity during the standing ovation after First Time. I just had to take it even though it may not have been the best moment in the set. The black and red lacy item skimmed his shoulder and landed behind - but he didn't flinch. I gather Remy watched me do it!! Matt moved on to Lost and Found (wonderful again) and then to Beat of a Breaking Heart (also wonderful again). He picked them up and hung them on the keyboard before picking up his guitar for the rocking out bit of BOABH. No comment about them - but I was quite relieved about that! Pull Me Under - this was definitely my favourite song last night - seemed to have gone up another level in the rocking out factor. Lorenzo is truly immense! We were finally invited to stand up for Starlight, but suddenly we weren't in the front row any more as people dashed forward with their cameras and phones  Not to worry, was finally up and dancing! Overall, another fantastic performance from Matt and all the band. I think the atmosphere was better at Cambridge though - despite the excellent job done by the sound guys, I don't think I'd want to go again to this type of venue. Wow - roll on Newcastle. And on that note - I must fly - heading out to learn about string making for my archery bow in 40 minutes and I need some lunch. Will check in again later if possible. xxx ********************************************************* chosenturboSo, just a few observations - comparing Swindon to Cambridge... The venue was the obvious difference - a leisure centre, and the crowd seemed appropriately leisurely to begin with. Cambridge was mostly standing, so the sense of anticipation was more palpable. Couldn't help but think: 'You people have no idea what you're in for - Matt is going to rock your socks off!!' *huge grin* *slight squeeing* I was also concerned about acoustics... but though it was slightly echo-y whenever someone was speaking, the music was fine - props to Gabe and his team on what must have been a particularly tricky sound job! Roxanne and her band warmed up the crowd nicely, and I found her voice less grating than the last time... progress! Was surprised to see what seemed like half the audience get up to go to the loo and/or bar in the interval  but thankfully most were back in their seats in plenty of time for The Headline Act. In contrast to the leisurely atmosphere, when Matt came out he seemed to have a little extra swagger (excuse the word!). It might just have been a matter of his confidence building with each show, but it did cross my mind that whatever p*ssed him off enough the night before to make him write that angry tweet may have spurred him on. In any case, there was a definite 'F*ck yeah, we're gonna rock this joint' vibe coming off him! And, well, they did - arses were well and truly kicked! Matt being his consistent self, vocals were spot on just as they were in Cambridge, but the band - though already tight the first time - now seem even more seamless among themselves and in sync with Matt. More and, more they're morphing into a five-piece band. I love watching Matt rocking out in the instrumental sections. Matt's crowd interaction and between-song banter has improved as well - he's becoming a rock star before our eyes. By the time Starlight came around, we were all thankful to Matt for encouraging us to stand up and join in, as I think we were looking for an excuse to do so. People moved forward and closed the gap between stage and audience, and Matt loved it. As always, it was over all too soon... but still two more shows to look forward to! Finally, a threadie award should go to Cat for the knicker tossing after First Time - a braver soul than I! He didn't notice them at first, but stopped and picked them up as he was changing guitars mid-BOABH, carefully (lovingly?) draping them on the keyboard. This can be seen here, from about 9:00: www.youtube.com/watch?v=q850FdV1MX4&feature=youtu.beAfter the song, I'm pretty sure he flashed a 'two' sign at the band members - second pair and counting... ********************************************************* 1lennonloveHi Just come home from Swindon. I agree it was a very strange venue. I've only ever been to theatres etc. It was interesting watching staff sell programmes whilst a kids swim party was going on. My OH and I had a walk around the place (nowhere to go) and met Matt having a crafty fag. There were only a few of us chatting to him and he was gracious and lovely to all. Just an observation but Matt is a tiny, tiny person:). Won't say too much as I know so much has been said before, but I was surprised at the mix of people. There were loads of men (much to my partners relief), mature ladies, a few younger girls and whole families. The sound was great for essentially a large indoor tennis court. What struck me most outside of Matt 's effortless vocal range and endurance was the quality of the rest of the band. They really are fantastic musicians and i think it made the gig. Lorenzo was amazing and really lifted the songs. He works so well with Matt. I loved the chemistry they had. Pull me Under was the surprise of the evening, I agree with Cat. It had so much energy and soul I loved it. I enjoyed BOABH a lot, it is not a favourite of mine but again the live arrangement and the band made it amazing. It felt a very intimate gig (partly due to the strange venue) with lots of laughs and casual moments. OH saw the knickers but I missed them. Got the feeling that Matt is having the time of his life. The whole band seemed really tight and absolutely thrilled to be playing. I am so glad for Matt and feel very lucky to have been able to share in his joy. ********************************************************* moomin123I think Chosen and Cat pretty much have yesterday covered. I agree that it was a very unusual venue and a completely different atmosphere than Cambridge. The whole thing seemed really laid back - right from our journey - which was pretty easy, to parking practically at the door to the venue, and having a relaxing bite to eat in the cafe while waiting for the doors to open. Complete contrast to last week. Going in to take our seats just before the start - all very chilled. I agree with Chosen that there was something different in the way Matt and the band performed - it definitely felt like there was a bit of devil-may-caredness going on - whether it was because of the tweet thing like Chosen said, or maybe because of the odd venue they just seemed like they were there to have a good time and were going to regardless. I can't really explain it very well - it was just the vibe of the thing. Although it was a bit weird with the audience sitting down most of the time, on the positive side I really enjoyed being able to take in the detail of what was happening on stage and watching the band and Matt and the interaction between them and taking photos. They are really getting soooooooooo good. Cat's knicker throwing technique was glorious to behold. First Time just finished, everyone a tad emotional, Cat's on her feet clapping, someone a bit further up takes a few steps towards the stage and claps up at Matt, Cat does likewise - steps forward to clap, wait .. no ... it's not a clap it's a lob! Knickers flying through the air, grazing Matt's shoulder, who is oblivious - still in his post-First Time zone, and landing behind him. Cat stepping back to her seat and sitting down - casual as you like. Remy meanwhile on the stage in front of us has the biggest grin on his face and keeps looking from the knickers to Cat to Matt, trying to catch Matt's eye to let him know they are there, but he doesn't manage to before they're playing Lost & Found. Beautiful. Was great to meet Gingerheart, full of admiration for the 8 gigs - and glad to hear 1Lennonlove got to meet Matt - well done - was wondering where you might be when we were in there! ********************************************************* GingerHeartSwindon Report: Met up with Moomin, Cat and Chosen just before having got lost several times! You were all lovely, and thankyou Moomin for sorting out the tickets and dropping me at the Travelodge after and sorry for my general awkwardness - I'm usually a really shy person but it was great to meet you all, and gigs really are more fun when you're with other fans rather than on your own! I don't know what I was expecting from The Oasis Leisure Cebtre, but hadn't expected it to be quite so...leisure centre ish I suppose! Was odd to be passing signs for changing rooms and pools and the exit being through a dance studio! But even so, the acoustics were better than expected and we had great seats - slightly to the side on the front row. Roxanne Emery has definitely grown on me - now I enjoy her rather than tolerating her while impatiently waiting for Matt! Still think there are a few too many songs though for a support act. The gig was of course amazing he gets more relaxed and confident with each gig, interacting with the audience more casually each time. As someone else said, he did seem to have a bit more attitude about him, in a good way! Like he had some anger to let out. Favourite was definitely Pull Me Under, which was absolutely phenomenal, best I've ever heard him do it, but think it goes without saying that everything was great Also when he left the stage for a few seconds after the second song he gave Lorenzo de Feo a cheeky slap on the bum which amused me for some reason! And Cats knicker throwing was of course excellent! Overall another great gig, thinking of giving Liverpool a miss but ridiculously excited for Newcastle I don't have any good photos as just took my phone, not my camera as didn't trust myself with it on such a long journey considering its my sisters! Got a little bit of video of WWC but didn't get the full thing as memory was full part way through  So won't put it up, thanks to all those who have taken/found links to videos

March 11 - Portsmouth superseasquirtOMG It was fantastic, amazing, superb, brilliant. Can't do a long post but a few quick thoughts. I had high expectations and knew he would be stunning but his vocals surpassed my wildest dreams. I have no musical knowledge so can't say anything technical about the band but they were without a doubt bloody amazing. Lorenzo was rocking it out with Matt and they were obviously having a great time on stage. Two drunk women directly behind me were a pain during Roxanne's gig so after a while I turned round and politely told them to be quiet. (my exact words) Then I felt something touch my hair but thought no more of it. At the interval they went out again (to the bar I presume) and the two women next to us complained to the security staff. A burly man came over then everyone around us complained to him about these women. Apparently they were making rude gestures behind my back and did something to my hair- I don't know what. He then called an equally burly woman bouncer over and waited for them to reappear. To cut a long story short they were late coming back so they intecepted them outside the main hall and ejected them He said they weren't happy! it made for a peaceful second half and we could all sit back and enjoy Matt. Thanks to Cat's post I'd worked out that Starlight would be a good time to throw well prepared ammunition. I'd tied a knot around the Haribo then tucked in the gusset! I grovelled in my bag to get them out when everyone stood for Starlight then said to the two unsuspecting girls next to me (I'd chatted to them earlier) will you help me throw the knickers- She looked at me for a second, I explained the Haribo were his favourite sweets, and gave the two smaller pairs to her and her sister. They smiled and took no further persuading so we lobbed them pretty much at the same moment. I think there was a flower or two as well. They didn't really take much notice I think but Lorenzo walked over at one point to inspect the package and smiled. They were still on stage when I left. The first time I realised they knew about it was Paul's tweet on here. Well it made for a fun day. I hadn't told my friend, she was really surprised and didn't realise why I was bent over grovelling in my bag. I have sworn her to secrecy. You do not know how out of character this is for me. Matt looked hot of course. Less of the scruffy sexy chic, (even though he was in denim, a black/grey denim shirt at least 2 buttons unbuttoned and grey jeans, with the lucky boots) more just sexy chic. Looked quite well ironed. I thought the audience were a bit subdued at the beginning- perhaps a bit of southern reserve-I was the only one near me who stood up when he first came on- I couldn't see the people behind. Even for First Time which was truly stunning only a few of us stood up. Still they livened up from Starlight, sang along well and gave him a great reception at the end. ********************************************************* MinkyBea[part 1] Ok, so am doing this on behalf of Sara (hello you - lurking outside!!) but must apologise at the outset for any errors or omissions but this level of squeedom has not been seen in many a long year and clouds the mind somewhat ... So, I met up with Sara at about 3.45 and we immediately went in search of the stage door -having previously seen a tweet from Matt saying he was on his way. When we got round to the side of the building the gates to the private parking for the Guildhall were open and there were already about half a dozen or so girls waiting (one of whom was Alice Tink, who I am sure will fill you in on her special experience herself) We introduced ourselves to Alice as Sara recognised her then had a good hour or so of Matt chat until we spied the MPV containing the band and the Range Rover with Will and Matt inside. Now at this juncture I must point out that everyone behaves differently when nervous/excited and I either clam up altogether or I become motor mouth, and I’m afraid yesterday it was the latter – and then some . I don’t really know what came over me but I guess knowing this was my one and only chance I went for it big time, so when the band got out the car Paul looked our way and smiled so I bowled over there with a ‘Hey Paul, I’m Belinda – MinkyBea – and mentioned the SFTTR perf on Jo Whiley and he said he rememberd the tweets between us and I shook his (talented) hand – haha so formal, and said have a great gig and he pointed and said Matt’s coming over now. ;D And there he was. In all his dinky splendour. Beaming . For those who want every detail ... loose knit beanie, his new Barbour (FITTED biker-style) scruffy jeans and undone Timberlands...and gallons of Bleu de Chanel!! Everyone else was kind of hanging back so I said hi to Will and complimented him on yet another splendid jumper and took a step forward towards Matt who beamed at me and went ‘Hey MinkyBea ... how are you? ??’ That took the wind out of my sails for a nano second so I said ‘you know who I am..?? And he said ‘course I do sweatheart!’!! Flustered[/url] wasn’t the word, as I rummaged in my bag for the Letters lyric book I wanted him to sign (no chest signing for me, thanks v much!!) and made small talk about having relocated back from Spain because of him – joke. Will said give me your camera and I’ll take a pic which he did, and Matt gave me a squeeze and I then said quietly, what a ball he was going to have on the London Eye with the MCAT lot with Wkid, Sam etc. At first he didn’t twig then Sara reminded him that Sam had the Ali T Shirt and the penny dropped and he grinned from ear to ear and said ‘That will be wicked ... Oh my God’!! ;D Will piped up with ‘Ah yes, Wkidstepmother is J**** of course, she won the bid...ha ha, brilliant’.... And I’m afraid I mentioned something about a possible need for extra security ....sorry!!! Anyway, a few other peeps had their photos done and things signed and then it was Sara’s turn for pics and signing. She was a bit worried Will wouldn’t let him sign all four of her cd inlays, but Matt was made up she’d brought the lot saying ‘Oh wow, you’ve got everything’. So the three of us chatted about some of the ‘old songs’ and Sara said how much she loved Matahari & he spoke about how he came up with the two or three chord riff on the guitar which he though sounded pretty cool (which he demonstrated to us in song!) and then said he put it with Richard (Grace) and thought wow! when he heard the keyboards! (Hope I’ve got this right, was a bit lost in squeeville at this point)!! Anyway, I then mentioned Waiting and he said, God you’re going way back now, and I said yes and WHAT ABOUT VIOLET???He said he always knew that was a great song and Will chipped in with yeah, that seems to be a real favourite .... and then Will said, and I don’t want to tempt fate or get peeps too excited, but Will’s words were, ‘Maybe that would be one to do on the London Eye.....’ !!!!!!!!!!!! Then they needed to go in and Matt gave Sara a mahooosive hug and a kiss on the cheek........and we floated off down the road to warm up in the pub. [part 2] Will skip over the boring bits like the huuuuuuuuuuuge queue to get in and the equally huuuuuuuuuuuuge queue for the ladies, so we used the gents.... , Sara bought a T shirt and mug and we both bought programmes (stunning) Found our seats Sara next to Alice in the FRONT ROW but on one side, and mine much better than I had expected a really good view of the stage thanks to a very wide aisle next to me. I spotted Humbug – knew which row she was, & recognised her from twitter, so we went & introduced ourselves. We had a little drinkie in the bar for more Matt chat and then heard the second half of Roxanne’s set. She does have a very pretty voice, and I wish I had heard more of her set, but we were buzzing rather at this point. She went off to very respectable applause (it’ s her home town apparently) and we waiting the long half hour of the interval while they reset the stage with the now familiar quirky living room set. (Cat at this point I thought I’d spied the 2 pairs of knix he had so far received, hanging on the front of Paul’s keyboard, but later they didn’t seem to be there, so not sure if I imagined it, or they fell down !!!) When the band took their places the anticipation was palpable - there were definitely some ‘proper’ fans out there, although those sat around me werereal stiffs. Then Matt made his entrance to rapturous applause (detail freaks: no hat,blue-black denim shirt 2 buttons undone, faded jeans and ‘lucky’ suede boots, oh & white boxers!) He thanked everyone and blew kisses and they went straight into S & L. Set list was unchanged from York, ie FT instead of Reflections, but I think they changed the order - sorry, I was enjoying myself so much & got so wrapped up in the music I forgot to take note, but I’m pretty sure Amazing was moved up to second because he did the dedication – someone Hurst I think, and then said ‘And all the beautiful ladies of Portsmouth’ haha. I’m sure it was because Pull me Under came later and they really rocked it up,much more than on the album. Fabulous. As everyone prettty much stayed seated I didn’t think they would appreciated my standing up n front of them, so I was jigging around in my seat like a woman possessed and belting all the lyrics out instead – in fact I ended up nearly as hoarse as he did. You could hear it a bit when we spoke between songs, but not when he sang, he was, as ever lyrically superb. The accustic section was, predictably breathtakingly beautiful and of course even the ‘stiffs’ managed to let go a bit when he sang First Time – which brought a partial standing ovation (is that possible?) I loved the rockier interpretations of WoW, Pull me Under and of course the twist with BOABH – it has all been said before, but in the flesh it was just magical. The band were super tight, and clearly as a team are seriously tuned in to each other now – and having a ball quite rightly. Matt’s voice – as Pie says – really goes up several gears when singing live and totally envelopes you with all the passion and emotion he has written into those lyrics. Finally, on Matt’s suggestion, everyone stood up for Starlight – so some of us went mental to that, finally released from our bonds, and then again to WWC and RFYR in the encore – when everyone did actually sing along as well. Great applause at the end - just wished they'd been a bit more demonstrative earlier! After we left the building we thought we would try (greedily) just one more time to see him and get our programmes signed. He came out about 10.45, but they left the gates closed between us and them, so it was a bit prison like ! There were about 30 or so waiting this time so we let them all go first and then took our chance. He remembered us again, checking how Sara spelled her name, and said Hey Minky! - I apologised again for being a pain, and he said not at all ‘sweetheart’ I said a few things about what I’d liked best and said Southend tomorrow ‘homecoming gig’ and he said ‘yeah gonna be a good one’, then he leaned in and kissed my cheek through the railing!!!! Sara said she’d see him in Hammersmith and he said, that one was ‘gonna be special’ – so think there are a few tricks up his sleeve for that one. I couldn’t resist one final moment of madness, so just as he was about to leave I set ‘Oooh, one more thing, I must just do this, Koala will kill me ....’ and squeezed his bicep, and he just grinned like a mad thing. I am fidding around with photos and snippets of video but will post separately so as not to hold this up!! My camera isn’t up to much and they were for personal use/memories so not up to repro anywhere, but if I can work out how to upload I will, it might be nice just for atmosphere & those Swindon photos /videos were just amazing so can’t hope to match those. Left feeling totally elated having heard the album literally brought to life, and even more desperate to do Hammersmith, but there’s no way as OH is away on business and it’s a week day with the sprogs plus we’re moving house that weekend!!! Just too many hurdles. Everyone waiting their turn – you will not be disappointed. Thank you to Sara for her wonderful company and fellow squeeing – a kindred spirit indeed and a final thank you to everyone on here and twitter for their ‘virtual company’ it felt like we were there together, one big Matty family!! But it is just all about the music hahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!! ********************************************************* humbug83OMFG, Matt was INCREDIBLE last night! He totally rocked Portsmouth! Our seats were fantastic (right in the middle of Row H). We were closer than we expected Loved the new arrangements of some of the songs (Pull Me Under especially). First Time Ever was beautiful <3 The encore was fantastic! The atmosphere was brilliant with everyone up on their feet. It had been a bit subdued before that. Lost & Found was a nice surprise I think my sister and her friend are converts  Absolutely loved the Cardle stomp! There were times it looked like he was looking straight at me! I could have died Wish I had bought a separate memory card for my camera (like I did for Take That) as I was halfway through filming one of the performances and it said memory full I bought myself a keyring (last of the big spenders lol) and now wish I had got a programme but I might buy one online. Matt went off stage for about a minute after the second song (I think). Does he do that at every show? Also, what was with the lamps and carpet? (lol) Was it to make us feel like he was in our front room? I thought Roxanne was really good as support act. I wanna go again (not fair if he is adding a few surprises at Hammersmith ). Wish I could meet Matt - hopefully it will happen one day. I am so proud!

March 12 - Southend DenJI'm home from the gig tired but happy I thought I'd write my review now while its fresh in my mind rather than leave it until tomorrow. I left home around 5.15 with my son. There was a lot of traffic and it took us well over an hour and a half to get there and find somewhere to park. The doors were already open and there was no queue which I was happy about as I expected there to be one. We went inside and I got my programme (beautiful:D) and a mug. Hardly any queuing at the merchandise stall either. I thought we were going to have something to eat before the gig started but decided to wait until afterwards so we went in and waited for Roxanne to come on. She was good but I just kept looking at my watch waiting for the main man Took a quick toilet break at the interval and then was back in my seat well in time for Matt to come on. He arrived to great applause from the audience. The gig playlist hasn't changed at all so I'll post a few observations. Matt was in fine voice throughout the evening. He was wearing a checked shirt and grey jeans. He mentioned that he had friends and family in the audience although I didn't see anyone from where I was sitting. He also said that it felt like a home gig. He got very emotional on several occasions bless him:cry: The crowd were sitting throughout the beginning of the gig. Matt sang First Time which he sang beautifully. There was absolute quiet during this song until Matt hit that special note when everyone broke into spontaneous applause Some of us stood up and applauded loudly afterwards. Not everyone stood up but he got a great reaction. The whole show seemed to come more alive after Matt asked everyone to stand up for Starlight which we did and we were all on our feet until the end. We all sang along to WWC and RFYL and all too soon it was over. Matt looked very happy rocking out with Lorenzo several times I didn't see any knicker throwing tonight. By the time the gig was over my son and I were starving so we stopped off at McDonalds on the way home. My son who is not a Matt fan and only went with me to keep me company hasn't been converted by Matt but as soon as we came in he asked for my album and downloaded it onto his pc so that he can listen to a few of the songs he enjoyed. Progress He wasn't so keen on the acoustic songs which I loved as much as the rockier stuff. He's also asked me to ask Matt where he got the boots he was wearing when I see him on the London Eye!! I took a few photos which aren't very good and my son took some video but the sound is really bad. The best one is FT but even that's not very good. When my son gets home from work tomorrow we'll see if its good enough to upload or if better ones are posted between now and then. As we drove past the Cliffs Pavillion on our way home there were a lot of people waiting outside to see Matt

March 14 - Liverpool lulu85[part 1] Liverpool was fantastic!!!! Just in so gathering my thoughts and will post tonight whilst can remember! he was wearing that tight white long sleeved vesty top and just seemed so at ease and enjoying himself. Band were brilliant. We all stood from the start and then sat for the quieter bits or if people behind had sat down and you felt you were blocking their view. He did a really sweet mention for Rebecca cos he was in her hometown but I really think he should make a bit more of his own family connections, we'd love it! AND remember on XF when he wore those neon trousers and said they were his dads? I think he was telling the truth Mr C was a row back and had on some rusty/pinky trousers!! :eek:Lovely Mrs C was with him and they waved to a few people in the boxes at the sides so maybe a bit of a clan gathering? They looked like they were about to burst with pride - Mummy Cardle was clapping and singing along. And whenever anyone shouted "I love you Matt" or (when he introduced a song with a little story about a failed relationship) "Marry me instead Matt" they laughed. Right - will get to work on rest of evening........ [part 2] I'd been working away and was worried I'd miss the start but actually got away pretty quickly and was back in Liverpool and at the Phil by 7.20. The tickets said 7.30 start but notices in the entrance said Roxanne was on at 7.50 then a break at 8.20 and Matt was 8.55. Finish was 10.10. I felt a bit disappointed cos it seemed he was only going to be on for such a short time Nothing interesting in the bar so being really early, I decided to walk round the block and get a coffee or something. This also meant I could go past the side entrance and have a quick nosey. There were some young girls at the side who’d made Matt’s name out of postcard pics on the pavement – as if they expected him to look out a top window. There was a huge truck (Stardes?) which I presumed was all the tech stuff and just round the corner a massive black luxury coach. I wondered if it was the Threadies! But no sign of Matt or the band or for that matter, anywhere to get a coffee so I went and sat back in the car for a bit! The thing that struck me when I got inside the Phil was how mixed the crowed was. Lots of mums and daughters which was sweet (I wonder who brought who?) but lots of couples too (and a couple of gay guy couples) and a real mix of ages from 12 to 70s. Mainly women but plenty of blokes who seemed to be enjoying it. Three women by me had those glow sticks and were waving them and getting in the mood. It was great. Roxanne was nice with a very young looking band. She was very gracious and thanked everyone and the audience were appreciative but I always think the support has a tough time cos we’re all waiting for someone else….good voice. Like Janet Devlin – that breaky folky style but stronger. I stayed put during the interval cos I was so tired (I was yawning away during Roxanne which was no reflection on her) and it was fun to see Matt’s set take shape. The lamps were there – also one of those cute little gold Chinese cat figures that waves its arm? Our chippys got one! I was wondering if they are adding little knick knacks on the tables as the tour goes on! Then Mr and Mrs came in. No one seemed to recognise them or if they did like me they just kept checking them out without bothering them. Couldn't believe it when they sat in the row behind although further along from me. Mrs C is very elegant with her grey bob. She is so petite. I don’t think she’d have seen much when those in front of her stood up (at one point she was sitting on the top of her upturned seat – like you did in the cinema when you were little She never stopped smiling and clapping and singing along. Mr C’s trousers were unique Must be amazing for him, a Liverpudlian to see his son pack out the Phil. It is a great venue – perfect acoustics and unusual décor (voluptuous naked goddess women etched on the walls. It’s also famous for its weird art on the back wall above the orchestra, which moves - luckily it was hidden behind Matt’s living room back drop tonight cos it looks like a giant sperm and that would have been just too distracting (esp after his tweet the other day…. ) The place went wild when the band came on. Then there is this strange noise leading into the intro of Stars and Lovers before Matt appears. My ears popped. Has that happened to anyone else? Then he ran in from the left and it was crazy. I took some good footage which I hope has worked and will try and upload tomorrow (am off in the afternoon whoop whoop). And lots of pics tho I seem to have caught him pulling the same face in every one. it is such a nice face though I loved Pull Me Under and First Time was note perfect although someone next to me warbled along even on those gorgeous falsetto bits which was a bit annoying as she was also flat but it was hard to be cross when everyone was so loved up. His bits between songs sounds like they were almost word for word the same as the other gigs but he’s so much more confident now. I think he only thanked us from the bottom of his heart three times bless and more than once said our support had made him the happiest man on the planet. He only got emotional once at the end when he thanked everyone again and wiped a tear or two away. He asked everyone to sing along with WWC as he said he keeps forgetting the words but he didn't. Then he dedicated RFYL to his dad and said he was somewhere in the audience but didn’t seem to look at the exact spot where he was. Mr C took a bow (still I don’t think some of those round him realised the connection) and as Matt started singing, mum rested her head on hubby's shoulder. I think they must have been so so happy tonight. There were some knickers thrown – I presume they were knickers. I didn’t see Matt pick them up. A woman ran to the front with a single wrapped red rose and waved it at him to take it. Matt was busy fiddling with his guitar and just seemed to ignore her and I thought -poor woman she’s going to have to just throw it. But despite the fact that she was right in front of him he hadn’t seen her and when he did he was genuinely surprised and touched. He reached down to get it and thanked her and we all went aahhh. As far as I can remember from posts here he stuck to the running order. Can’t find the list at the mo – he did Faithless- is that always on? When he introduced it with this story of how he two timed someone there was a bit of panto style booing from one corner. Lost and Found was lovely. Oh – every song was just wonderful. They all gel so brilliantly as a band. Anyone who went early and is going at the end will see how they’ve developed. I did feel I was watching a band rather than Matt and backing musicians. I’d like to see it come on even more maybe with some harmonies etc – can they all sing?! There’s no doubt though that Matt’s voice dominates everything. It is truly awesome and sounding strong. I think he’s come on a huge amount since the XF tour. Hope he plays more venues like this as I think the Phil was perfect for them tonight – rocky but intimate. Much nicer than being at some huge arena where he’s a dot in the distance. Can’t wait to see what Ginger, Ella and Cardoodle have to say. More will come back to me I’m sure….. Oh – BOABH - sure enough people by me clapped and sat down at the “end “ – but I stayed on my feet cos I knew the surprise coming thanks to you! Still thrilling even when know what's going to . Don’t want to go to sleep. Lovely lovely night. If you’ve not seen him yet you are in for such a treat – and if you are going again, it will be even more fab next time. Love to everyone heading for Glasgow!! PS I didn’t think Rebecca was there - I thought he was just acknowledging her, how nice she was as he was in her home city. Did someone see her? Bet everyone's gone to sleep now.....will try and check in 2moro Cardoodle[part 1] Hi guys...Matt and the band were bloody awesome tonight in Liverpool..up several gears from Rhyl. Band amazingly tight, Matt's guitar playing was sublime and that voice..FTEISYF live is the most incredible thing I've ever heard,. where he pulls all that emotion from I really don't know it was pitch perfect and he makes it look so effortless..I swear he could go even higher with this..but it stunned the hell out of me:o He looked gorgeous..THE white top (all those press ups are certainly paying off, he has the most lovely biceps (not even going to apologise for being shallow:p) jeans and lucky boots. He paid tribute to his dad who was in the audience, together with other family members , who came in just before Matt came on So couldn't see who. He also gave a nice shout out to Rebecca Fergusson who was in the audience somewhere The whole Band were up for it from the off, great interaction between Matt and Lorenzo who really is a fab guitarist and Matt's guitar playing was impressive too..couldn't help noticing again how good Tom and Remy are too. Here's a couple of photos I have more which I will post tomorrow if they are any good. a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/419679_291768140894952_155242377880863_709708_1354289666_n.jpga3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/422976_291768074228292_155242377880863_709707_1944338749_n.jpg[/QUOTE] [part 2] Morning all Sorry for my post gig rantings last night:o, just had to tell you how bloody fantastic he was! As I said to Lulu earlier, having seen him at Rhyl on his 1st night I thought I knew what to expect..but believe me he more than surpassed what ever I expected;) Roxanne did a lovely support slot, Lulu has described perfectly, nice voice and enjoyable. There was a nice big build up to Matt coming on and I was surprised at the crowd reaction in comparison with Rhyl..every one was on their feet and cheering and clapping, Matt looked a bit stunned himself bless him..I think I may have mentioned how gorgeous he looked? THE white top displayed those lovely biceps perfectly and his shoulders are rather scurmmy too! We were in row B so it was close..very close especially when he come to the edge of the stage..he is a stunner! I was looking forward to the new set up with Lorenzo being next to Matt. so was surprised to see the original arrangement of Paul behind matt, so presumably they are still playing around with this. Lorenzo did move centre stage at a couple of points for his guitar solos The Band are just fab relaxed, smiley and obviously really enjoying themselves. There was a lovely vibe, lots of interactions esp between Matt & Lorenzo..boy do they rock out!! No changes to set list..Again Matt tweeked song in places which I loved. I know we all have our favourites and Slowly & WOW are mine. Being so close to the stage, WOW was something else ..he works that stage & has the audience in the palm of his hand! that voice together with that face close up is too much for my blood pressure Boabh is a new fave of mine and even though I knew what was coming it's still amazing and this has also gone up several gears since Rhyl... I made this comment to my friend and she replied " up at least 10 gears"! So not just me as an obsessed fan then? Every track they played was spot on I tried to pay more attention to the band..it's very difficult with gorgeous distraction of the 'bearded wonder' But with a concerted effort..Remy is quite amazing and I do love a lot of bass. Tom is fascination to watch, I especially like his soft heartbeat drumming in BOABH..He is quite a hunk too (I think I may have mentioned ) Paul is cute as and his keys are ace! He looked especially happy and smiley, lots of knowing nods and grins between him and Lorenzo, couldn't help noticing them as we were right in front of them. What can I say about Lorenzo?..his guitar skills are so immense, him and Matt have some kind of chemistry going on that's hard for me to describe and the crowd really loved the rocking out bits I really love Matt's self penned songs over covers...but highlight of my night was FTEISYF..all the YT's in the world (and I have watched them all) didn't prepare me for this last night..The acoustics in that place are sublime and his voice just seemed to soar even more than usual if that's even possible! I'm sure we haven't heard the best of that voice even now..effortless, stunning not to mention goosebump inducing! Audience had sat down for this but where soon on their feet for a total standing ovation lasting a few minutes..which was just as well as matt sat back on his stool and you could see him taking in big deep breaths to calm himself. He really does put himself through an emotional ringer to perform this..stunned the hell out of me:cry Pull me Under & All For Nothing were exceptional last night too Love the way Matt says "we're going to get a bit funky" before Pull Mw Under and boy they certainly do!! His voice impresses again with AFN. Starlight is a big crowd pleaser & had everyone singing along and dancing..still can't understand why this wasn't a huge hit:( Matt left the stage to huge applause taking his bows right at the edge of the stage looking so happy, emotional and sweaty!! Matt came back on for his encore, Lulu has already mentioned the emotional connection to The philharmonic and then performed acoustic WWC which had the crowd singing along and then the guys came back on and they did RFYL which Matt dedicated to his dad saying "I Love you Buddy": Crowd again singing along until the the long note bit...WOW he held that for what seemed like forever!! ..huge cheers again And that as they say was that..crowd carried on yelling for more but the lights came on and sadly it was time to go home:( Sorry guys this has turned into a novel! All I can add is..Roll on Hammersmith!! Here are some of my pics..not great but it was emotional:o;) a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/431313_291967917541641_155242377880863_710149_2011325624_n.jpga5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/417595_291967957541637_155242377880863_710150_103465532_n.jpga3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/427532_291968000874966_155242377880863_710151_2027225625_n.jpg a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/428114_291968034208296_155242377880863_710152_1034749867_n.jpga7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/424090_291968057541627_155242377880863_710153_283661597_n.jpga6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/431022_291968077541625_155242377880863_710154_438053493_n.jpg

March 15 - Glasgow PedskyFooking Immense:eek:  That is all!!! Matt_Cardle<3Ok I'm knackered but bouncing so will do this now in case anyone is still up! Got there about 4 and after a bit of a panic for parking, got parked right over the road from the tour bus. My friend hadn't had much sleep and (before the gig) wasn't THAT keen on matt so she went for a nap (I know right, madness!) in the car whilst I waited. Was about 5 o clock when their mini bus thing arrived and after 5 mins of "There's Matt!" and admiring Will's sweater, Matt came straight over. I waited whilst some others had photos then he signed my Letters coverslip and I got a photo and asked him about the Christmas card I got and he said yes he did write it I told him it made my christmas and he was like "awww bless you" Then we waited a little and went to the O2 queue and was almost at the front. After about an hour we got let in, went in first and I am SO SO annoyed they didn't let my good camera in  Held me up putting it in storage but just managed to get to the front. Got a bit pushed back to 2nd row but still an amazing view!! Roxanne was really good and I enjoyed her more than I expected. I'm not going to go into much detail about the individual songs except FTEISYF was just so emotional and vocally perfect. I absolutely LOVED BOABH! All of the songs were amazing, he is just perfect and the band are awesome! Best bits of the gig - he looked right at me, sang a whole line to me and then smiled at me while singing the last word. Actually almost died, my friend was laughing at me so much And during RFYL he grinned at me and stuck his tongue out at me TWICE I will do pictures tomorrow, they're nowhere near as good as they could have been But here's a taster, I think you will like this one i18.photobucket.com/albums/b128/csimonkey/SDC10906.jpgHe is SO wonderful and amazing and soooooo good looking The cardle stomp was a winner with my friend and she said it was much better than she expected, "boy can he sing!" and she loves him, but not as much as me cause apparently I spent the entire time grinning like a maniac I want to marry him. Linseyap[part 2] I THINK I'VE GONE DEAF. I'm gonna make this a fairly quick report as I need my bed but what a day! We arrived in Glasgow about midday and decided to get some lunch before going to the venue. Walking down the street we passed Will in his grandad jumper  I immediately texted Ella to tell her. We went to a pub i used to like when I lived there which is opposite a massive Radisson hotel and I said it would be good if they were staying there, as we'd just seen Will fairly close. then who appears out the door but Remy  Text to Ella again Before we'd finished lunch I spotted her and Amanda over the road outside the hotel so we went over to meet them. Started chatting like mad immediately again So only just gone lunchtime and already it was getting exciting! There was a photographer there who knew this years XF lot were staying there too and were due to arrive at about 3pm and there were some other girls loitering so meet them. I wasn't fussed about seeing any of them but we decided to hang around there instead of going to the venue. I felt a bit stalkerish about waiting at the hotel rather than the venue but hey ho. So they all showed up, they went in a side door but I kept a vigil at the front should Matt emerge. After a little while we saw Tom arrive at the hotel, Alanna shouted hi but he seemed a bit surprised we knew his name so he didn't respond much. Will then returned and Alanna said she loved his jumper and he looked over his shoulder and did a camp little smile and strut Next Lorenzo and Paul showed up. They were lovely! Paul defo seems the most chatty out of the lot. They were happy to have a picture with us, I said "I'm so short I'll be way down here" so they ducked down, it was so cute I love the picture and was buzzing afterward. I'll put it up later. Last but not least Remy came strolling back, I said hi but was too quiet and he didn't hear. Time was getting on and I was starting to think maybe they'd gone out the side door but then a silver van pulled up and Will came down and chucked some bags in so we knew he was on his way. Blimey so much for a short report, I'll write more in a mo. [part 2] So the band slowly trickled out, Matt was last of course. We could see up to the first floor through the glass windows and eventually he emerged up there with Sarah and Will. Sarah got straight into the van which I was glad about cos I'd be too embarassed if she was there As soon as he walked out the door it seemed 100 people appeared out of nowhere, and we'd been waiting for over 2 hours! Annoying! So I didn't get a picture I just gave him a card my mum asked me to give him. I asked him to read it and if he could let me know if he's read it because I would be at 8 gigs! Haha! Was so glad to get to tell him that And he leaned in and put his arm around me and put his face sideways right across mine. His beard on his chin is softer than on his cheek  I could smell him for ages after. We went to the venue then and met some of the others, they'd just met him as he arrived then so we were all happy bunnies. We were near the front of the queue so we managed to get right at the front. We lost A&A on the way in though so we were separated. You all know about the show I will just say Letters was magical again, I enjoyed FT more this time, he looked right at me during WOW and went down to his knees, felt like he was serenading me  He didn't talk about the songs were about this time, not sure why. I thought maybe it was to make room for an extra song but didn't hold out much hope. A couple of pairs of knickers were thrown but he didn't notice. Lynne and Gail form MCAG got the shout out which was nice. When he asked the crowd to sing during WWC he said "That's fff....that's beautiful" then said "Thanks so f*cking much" at the end anyway Another amazing show, so glad I have 5 more! Amanda suggested we go to the hotel instead of wait outside as there'd be less people which was a great idea! We saw Sarah inside the hotel (I had thought she'd be at the show but apparently not ). I won't say anymore about that here (lurking eyes ) but we had a good laugh. I was surprised to see she smokes! Oh also, has anyone else noticed one of his guitars says Sarah on it? Like the Stella one. Anyway, when he showed up we had our own time with him which was great! No hurry to get anywhere and not many other folk. I got a picture and I asked what the V on his hand is for and he said it was to remind him to look after his Voice. I said that was a great idea He said "See you tomorrow" when he went in. Can't wait Off to bed now, haven't even packed yet  tillysteeth1Not much to add about the Glasgow gig that hasn't already been said. Managed to get to the centre front!! was made up about that. Pete, Linda and Kaz were couple of peeps along from us (gutted I didn't see Suz ) and it appears so was Matt_Cardle <3 Wish i had known at the time!! Some guy behind us kept shouting out 'I love you Matt' Seriously crushed at the front by the time Matt came on. was so chuffed to see the 02 packed out for Matt. The atmosphere was electric. yeah i know it is said a lot but it really really was. I loved Roxanne actually second time round. Nice voice and nice songs. I attended the gig with one girl who loved Matt at X Factor but hasn't really paid him any attention at all since winning it (she is a reality telly fan not a fan of the artists) and the other loved Matt and had his album. So when I said I was with 2 non Matt fans that wasn't strictly true. One is and one was waiting to be converted into a Matt fan and not an X Factor/BGT/AI Idol fan First can I praise the crowd - bloody epic doesn't cover it!! Screamed and shouted and sang their wee hearts out. Thought I might burst with pride for Matt who was vocally and in every other way outstanding once again. And whoever that reviewer was must have her ears and eyes painted onto her head because Matt was working it!! So he doesn't prowl the stage with his chest puffed out shouting out crap that makes him 'interesting' and 'edgy'! he doesn't need to!! The tunes and the musicality do the talking. Such a pity that silly moo didn't realise that he is no longer part of the X Factor machine. There were grudging praise and positives in the review tbf but you could tell she wanted to hate it but he is too good! Massive Grrrrr to the photographers who came within 10 seconde of getting a massive poke in the back and getting told to bog off as they stood infront of us when matt came on and for ages stood and took pics blocking our view! they moved in the nick of time There was a wee lass next to me at the barrier. she must have been about 13?? She broke her heart from the minute Matt came on - I mean broke her heart She shook from start to finish and cried the whole way through the set. I kept asking if she was ok and if she needed help but she just kept crying. She had Matt written all over her hands. It was really quite heartbreaking. She kept trying to give the security guard a letter for Matt but he refused to take it She tried to throw it but it didn't get anywhere and the guard just gave her it back., I saw Matt looking at the lass a couple of times and he looked a bit upset. the poor lassie was in such a state! But the guard told her at the end to go to the back door and Matt would see her there. Kept thinking about her today. Really hope she got to talk to him and give him the letter. Anyway Matt rocked bigtime. He swore a few times off mic which made me really happy! Just seems more 'Mattlike' and he seemed genuinely overcome with the massive and mental support for him. My favourite from the night was 'Letters' It reached all manner of epicness last night. I have such a massive emotional attachment to that song at the best of times. When he did FT I actually thought we would go throught the floor! Everyone thumped on the floor with there feet! the noise was immense  BOABH gorgeous as per usual and having been unsure about Lost And Found at York I decided I love it now after hearing it again. Super duper chuffed to go to a pub along the road and the whole pub was buzzing about Matt and watching vids and looking at pics. He was out of this world. Just wish I could have hung around at the end but the guys wanted to go so I had to go Linda ShawOk here goes, a few words about the Glasgow gig. Before the gigMet up with Kazbo, Gail, Pete and Lynne at the hotel and had a chat before heading to the o2. Arrived there just after 4pm and headed straight to the back door to wait for Matt. Had been waiting a while when Roxanne Emery and her band arrived. As she went inside, Gail shouted her name. She came back out looking surprised that people knew who she was. Gail asked her to say hi to my OH, who ended up getting his photo taken with her!! Matt and the band, along with Sarah arrived just after 5pm. Matt jumped out the car and lit up a fag and he and Sarah stood and chatted to some of the venue staff. Sarah went inside and Matt came over to the barrier where we were all waiting. There wasn’t too many of us so it looked like it would be easy to get a photo opportunity. As he got closer I felt my knees begin to shake. I had my cd with me so he could sign the sleeve. I never thought I’d say this but when it came to my turn to meet him I was so overawed I went totally shy. I couldn’t stop staring at him, his skin is just so gorgeous!! I had to pluck up the courage to go forward to speak to him. I gave him the cd sleeve and said I was one of the group of 12 who was going on the London Eye with him. He said “Oh yeah, that’s gonna be a good one”. After he had spoken to a few more people I went back over and asked him to sign my t-shirt. OH took a pic of him signing it. I still can’t believe I was too shy to ask him for a photo but got him to sign my chest!!! Once he went inside for the sound check we all went round to the queue where we met Ella, Amanda, Linsey and Tilly. The gigOnce the doors opened we made a beeline for the front and got a brilliant spot right in front of the mic. Within minutes there were loads of people behind us and there was no way I was leaving that spot because it would be impossible to get back in. The venue was buzzing. Roxanne Emery came on and I enjoyed her more than I expected to. Thought her set was maybe a bit too long but on the whole I thought she was really good. The atmosphere was electric during the set change and the crowd were whooping and singing along to the music. Finally the band came on and the crowd roared. When Matt came running on the place erupted. The noise was deafening and I had a lump in my throat at the welcome he got. I don’t know what else to say that hasn’t been said already but the gig was epic. I knew Matt would be fantastic but his voice just blew me away. The soaring vocals, OMG. Don’t know how many times I had shivers running up and down my spine. The chemistry between Matt and Lorenzo was fantastic and the whole band just rocked. Kazbo and I got a few smiles from Matt – god you just melt when he looks at you!! Glad that Gail and Lynne got the shoutout for Amazing. My favourite songs of the night were Pull Me Under, BOAB, Letters and Slowly. FTEISYF was spoilt slightly for me by the crowd shouting and cheering during his performance which I think made it difficult for him to concentrate. He got very emotional during it and you could see the relief on his face when it was finished. It’s the one song I was hoping the crowd would stay quiet for but I still loved it. Several pairs of knickers were thrown onto the stage during the show but he never picked them up. I threw mine, they hit the cable on the edge of the stage and fell off - ah well that's what I get for trying to act like a teenager!! A few people have mentioned him swearing and yes he did but in a good way. At one point during Pull Me Under (I think!) he looked at Remy and Tom and said “F***ing Glasgow yeah”. When we were singing along to WWC, he said “You know how it goes” and stepped back a few paces from the mic. He must have been hit by a wall of sound because he looked stunned and said “F***”. When he went off at the end of the show he said “Thank you so much Glasgow, thank you so “F***ing much”. I can’t think of anything else to say except that once the gig was over I just stood there leaning on the barrier unable to move. I was just totally stunned. Once my legs were working again we went up to the merchandise area and I bought a programme, white letters t-shirt and a mug. Afterwards we said goodbye to Kazbo and Lynne, Gail, OH and I went back to the hotel where we sat and had a few drinks and talked about Matt until after 2 in the morning. What better way to spend a night and in such good company too. A night I’ll never forget. I appear to have rambled on somewhat so I'll stop now!!!

March 16 - Newcastle wkdstepmothermorning all!! Just thought I'd pop in and give my views on last night though I'm sure Sam and Cardie and the rest of the gang will give you all of the behind the scenes stuff. I wasn't with them (though we met up a couple of times - my youngest has taken a total shine to Sam - first thing she said when she got up this morning was you're friend Sam's crazy!!! which is high praise from E) and pretty much came for the gig and went home again - E was practically asleep by the end - though she's made me promise to get her Matt hat signed by him on Thursday!! I was in the second row of the balcony (so the little one could see) which she complained about cos she doesn't like heights (can't bloody win) Anyway I watched Roxanne Emery and I wasn't really drawn to her at all. (E liked her but she likes Taylor Swift so she's her type of thing) I found her a bit dull and generic (though sure she can sing) - and the Elvis cover WTF!! don't cover Elvis and if you must don't change the words. Anyway on to Matt - it was interesting to watch rather than participate and my observations are quite different as a result. The crowd were good, mostly on their feet from the start. When he hit one of the high notes on FT someone shouted out really loud "and that's why you won!!" which made me laugh. The set is stunning - I didn't realise that at York cos I was too close to see it properly but standing back it's really gorgeous and classy. He did the same set as other gigs so I''ll only make a few observations. The main one he's said himself, he needs more upbeat songs - I really think he should have done Chemical rather than Lost and Found (just because of the tempo) There just isn't enough energy in the first part of the show - S&L needs to be followed by something more upbeat than Amazing. Anyway in terms of how he performed - exactly as always, fantastic, perfect vocals and the band were great. Standout bits for me were Paul's piano solo in Pull Me Under which I could really see (that whole song is just incredible live) Letters, BOABH Faithless and Starlight. He dedicated FT to Sarah which was really sweet. Funny moment was when Sam threw the huge pants on stage and he thought it was a towel - I was PMSL and everyone around me was looking like - it's only a towel why is she laughing so hard? My sister enjoyed it, even recorded a bit Lorenzo's solo to take home to show the OH. I asked her if she thought Lorenzo was good and her reply was "he's not bad at all" which is high praise from someone who worships at the door of Ritchie Blackmore and other HM axe heroes. Sitting in the balcony with my kids isn't my preferred way to enjoy a concert (I'm more more a participator than a watcher) but everyone seems to enjoy it - even my "too cool for school" older daughter. Younger one loved it though flagged at the end - and like I said is now BFF with Sam twitter.com/#!/wkidstepmother/status/180735410035625984/photo/1 Oh I forgot everyone sang Happy Birthday to Tom and I mean EVERYONE which was really cool:cool: By the encores the balcony was rocking and I mean shaking - my daughter was a bit scared but all's well that ends well - everyone seemed to go home happy Oh and he kept crying -again:eek::eek: SAMofBEVI don't even know where to begin. I feel as though the last month is a dream and I'll wake up to find none of it actually happened. So we got to the evil hostel, dumped our bags and headed for the venue. Once there we saw maybe 20 or so fans, the band and Will arrived and Will said Matt would be along soon. My guess is he was spending some precious moments with Sarah. I went up to Will, being the shy and retiring girl I am, and said hi and told him some of the eyers were here at which point cardie and cat came over. I said I had one request and it was for Ali to be in the eye, he said there was no room to which Cardie piped up and said "well you could always step aside Will' much lolage!!! He saw the funny side. He also said Matt's gonna have to relearn Violet!! Squeeeeee!! We waited for Matt to arrive and when he did it was right next to us. He has so much time for everyone, it makes me smile soooo much, even the woman with 7 billion photos for him to sign, at one point he looked up and saw me and went "oh!! Hello! How are you sweetheart?" Then I got my opportunity to have my pic (to follow) he saw my Ali hoody and I was like "yeah, another one" he had a good look at it, touching it and everything and just laughed. I said I was an eyer an he said "yeah, looks like I'm gonna relearn Violet" Mucho squeeo!!!!!!!! Got a lovely hug and smooch on the cheek. :-) Cardie got her Cardle cuddle and Cat got her tshirt signed!!!! Woops all round!!!!!!! And that was that encounter. Went for tea and met up with wkd and fam and gingerheart. I wish I was best friends with wkds daughter, she's like tigger on speed!! My kinda girl!!! :-) Didn't bother going in for most of Roxanne thanks to my naughty habit so me and Ginge stayed outside. Who should walk through the foyer but Paul!! He went "oh hi!! It's you!!" :-) Told him off for forgetting to sort his mums tickets out!! Lol!! Told him to look out for my missile!! More on Paul later. He's sooooooooooo lovely, I wanna keep him!! Show time!! As you know I was front row, thanks to Ginge. View was amazing!!! Matt was amazing, Lorenzo was stunning, Paul was immense, Remy was fab, T O M was wonderful. I seized my huge missile opportunity while Matt was introducing the band. PMSL "oh look, more Haribo and a towel!!" A towel!!! Ha ha ha!! Paul pointed at me and was lolling, later I learnt he knew they were huge pants all along!! I won't go into every song but I must say Pull Me Under gets better everytime!! It was unbelievable last night, Pauls piano solo was just jaw dropping!!! He went mental with the keys!!! After the show we all sorta hung around and chatted to Kate Bullen for a while, she's lovely AND doesn't think we're mental which is nice. The band came out and I shout at Remy "we love your big one" He laughed and said "I love straddling it between my legs" ha ha ha!! Paul was across the road at this point talking to his mum and dad and he waved and I said it was pants and not a towel he said "oh I know" in a conspiratal manner!! Ha ha!! He came over and we got a lovely group shot with him. The rest I'm gonna leave for someone else to tell, I don't want to mess it up. Needless to say 20 mins later we were STILL chatting with Paul. CardlescardieGuys I'm having to do this on my phone after all, so please forgive typos as the train is jiggling around. First of all, to reiterate what Sam was saying earlier - how bl**dy perfect is everything in Matt world at the moment??? It's dream like, day after day! My take on pre-gig events: We broke some sort of world striding record to get to the venue, to find Lins+sister, Ella and Amanda waiting plus a few others. We weren't there long before the band arrived. When Paul appeared I heard this clippy clippy sound of heels running down the pavement and thought "That's some rabid fan trying to hurl themselves at him" Actually *coughs* it was Kate desperate to catch Paul to give something to Tom for his birthday. We had a quick chat - Sam showed her the jumbo pants (heavens knows what she thought lol). Then Will arrived and said that Matt hadn't arrived yet, so we knew he was imminent. Sam wandered over to him and said she was one of the London Eye people and I heard Will say that he'd been on it before and didn't like it because of the height. On hearing this I slipped over and said that I didn't like heights either, so I was going to stand in the middle of the pod. Sam got in her request for Ali, and Will said that there wasn't enough room in the pod. He took my remark about him maybe stepping to one side in good humour, bless him! I have to say, he is a huge loss to woman kind. He has fabulous skin and is really very lovely. We also spoke about Violet, and he said it was quite a difficult song to do, so I got the feeling he was being non committal about it. Anyway Matt soon arrived in a taxi. FFS! Posted that 3 times due to jiggly train and now I've completely lost my next post grrrr! Anyway, Matt soon arrived and for a while I was just happy watching him from a couple of paces away, with this sort of view: t.co/8E77bLs9 Randomly I noticed his pen grip?!?! (This is the sort of thing teachers notice - slaps own face FFS!) At one point he was posing for a pic and Sam said "Do the GT pose!" to which he replied "Never again!" I wonder if he's having an "In the cold light of day moment" bless him. (Just seen further pics :eek: *baby blue eyes* #whatbloodymusic) Anyway, Matt clearly knew Sam and they had some lovely time together! He was very patient with everyone, even the lady with the HUGE WAD of photos for him to sign lol! I could tell time was getting on, so stepped forward for my turn. I managed not to babble like a twonk and just said "I'm another "Eyer"!" He gave me a proper big cuddle, and Will took our photo. Needless to say I was inhaling deeply! Soon he really had got to go. Btw we met Tam + daughter (Lovely to meet you Tam!) and also Pudmog gave Matt this really cute Build-a-bear, but I didn't realise it was her until after (waves to Pudmog). We listened to the sound check for a bit, ears to the door, the thud going through us to our toes, then went off to eat. After grub, we met up with Wkd+sister and Wkd's lovely daughters, and headed back to the venue, where we met Ginger and her impressive collection of essential luggage! As we went in, Kate and hubby were at the box office, sorting out the fact that their VIP tickets were forgotten, poor souls! And we met the lovely Wildhoney in the foyer *waves*. So many new threadies to put a face to! The gig: Tbh I didn't really like being on the balcony, I'd rather be in the thick of it, and I would agree with a lot of Wkd's comments. I was chuffed that people stood up from the start, and there was much more of an "entrance" for Matt than before - blue lights, big intro. Re Amazing - I'm pretty sure they have this early in so Matt doesn't forget his "shout out" name. I am stunned everytime I hear First Time, and really enjoyed the rocking out bits, Matt's funky walks, and Pull me under was IMMENSE. All the guys were totally going for it, and I'd never noticed Paul's manic keyboards before! The pants episode from Sam was beyond hilarious, even more so knowing that Paul knew exactly what the score was! When I read the tweets like "Did he wipe his face with them?" Omg, how funny would that have been? ? My one gripe is that RFYL is last. I won't expand. #badfan All in all, another great gig, and Sam has a photo of Matts tongue which will make you go :eek: Make room on the roof rack lol!!! Sorry I'm waffling - last bit to come honest! Afterwards, we hung around outside for a bit. Paul was chatting to his Mum and Dad over the road, and there were a lot of people waiting for Matt down the side of the building, including Ginger. The band came out and loaded their stuff in this minibus, and as for Sam's "big one" exchange with Remy.....he seems well up for a laugh! When Paul came back over, Sam asked if we could have a group pic with him, and he duly obliged. If you want to see it, you'd best contact Sam - soz but no pics on the net for me. We told him we were going on the Eye, and we hoped Ali could come, and he said he knew Ali would love that! General chat about Sam basically single handedly paying for Ali's pension with her merchandise purchases lol! We chatted about the thread, and how it had bought us all together, and he said his Mum totally understood all of that! We asked him about the rearrangement of stage positions at Southend, and he said that they had to change it back because really with him being the MD, he had to be in contact with everyone therefore central, which makes sense. We also asked about his own album on I tunes, and he said something uncomplimentary about it  but that he had something new coming out that he was really pleased with, if he ever got the time to sort it out, bless him! We asked if the band would be involved in the next album, and I got the impression that he wasn't really allowed to comment on that at this moment in time. He also said about Big Brother - the fact that he'd just been given a promotion on the show then had to walk away from it for Matt! But who could blame him? Btw he said Matt had been doing chin ups to prepare for the GT shoot - I think anyone would and lets face it we are all so pleased that he did! Finally, I showed him my photo with Matt from earlier in the day. He said Can't believe I'm typing this "That's a lovely photo, you look like a proper couple!":eek: What a total sweetheart to be so kind! He is officially Mr Lovely of Lovelyland in my eyes!! I said "I need you to say that to Matt - you'd make my LIFE!" Gobsmacked!!!! Anyway, after hogging Paul for what seemed like ages, he went back to the minibus. Tbf no one else wanted to talk to him, so maybe hogging isn't the right word - he's our guilty pleasure at the moment! Matt came out much earlier than he did at Cambridge, and I have to say MASSIVE RESPECT to him. A lot of people were there and he did EVERY SINGLE thing they wanted, even though Sarah was waiting in the minibus and he must have wanted to get away and have time with her and/ or party and celebrate Toms birthday. Matt, you are a special guy. Finally, I think guys going to Manchester are going to have a great time because having Sam around seems to make things happen!!! Cat24Evening all Just a quick visit this evening with brief review - Wkd, Sam and Cardie have done a fab job. I spent most of the train journey back from Newcastle catching up on the thread, with intermittent squeeing and giggling with Cardie, Chosen and Moomin about certain photos I've just posted the most important photo from the Newcastle visit to Twitter see it here: twitter.com/#!/CatW24/status/181115636737515520/photo/1 Will took it just after Sam had informed Matt I was one of the London Eyers to which he responded something along the lines of "Excellent - how are you doing sweetheart?" along with a kiss and cuddle hence the slightly enormous grin on my face!!! And following this, I asked if he would sign my T-shirt which he did. I'll have to upload the rest tomorrow as really need to spend a bit of time with OH - bless him, he had got dinner almost ready when I finally got home just before 6.30 this evening (though I had phoned to request this once on the train). Gig observations - not keen on being in the balcony either having been virtually at the front at Cambridge (standing) and in the front row at Swindon. I was so glad the stalls people stood up - ably encouraged by Sam, Ginger, Ella, Linsey and friend. Those in the balcony stayed firmly rooted to their seats until Starlight. Many were not even jigging about sat down. I didn't feel I could stand but I was certainly dancing in my seat! It felt as though a significant proportion of those attending were fans of XFactor Matt rather than the real Matt, I'm not sure they were expecting the rockier side to the performances. Usual set list with less chat/explanations about the reasons for Walking on Water/Slowly - perhaps because Sarah was there. I managed to record Faithless and will upload this tomorrow too. It's come out pretty well for a first attempt. One of my absolute favourites on the album and it comes across really well live done simply with the lovely Paul on piano and Matt's acoustic guitar. I have to say I was pretty annoyed with some of the crowd for the calling out/screaming during First Time. There's a time and a place and it must have been distracting for Matt during what is such an emotional song for him, especially as he had dedicated it to Sarah. Reviews from Glasgow suggest the same thing happened there. Stand out song - Pull Me Under again. Lorenzo is incredible and I love the chemistry that has built up between him and Matt, well between the whole band really. I seriously hope they carry on working together. Having now seen and heard the set 3 times, I am praying hard that we get something extra at Hammersmith - another song or two that are more upbeat would balance it out a bit more. Chemical/Sparks/Uninvited - all 3 ideally!! On that note, must love and leave you til tomorrow. moomin123Morning - so much chat over the last couple of days! Great reviews from peeps at Glasgow (sounds like that was a humdinger) and Newcastle. And those GT photos! My word they kept us amused on the train – as you say Chosen that poor chap sitting with us. Probably didn’t help that I kept squeezing his knee between my knees (thought he was the table leg till about half-way home! ). Haven’t got much to add to the Newcastle reports that hasn’t already been said. Matt really is so lovely to stop and spend time with people before and after the gigs. The orderly queue for a photo after the gig in particular was impressive – especially when he must have been keen to get off to spend time with Sarah/celebrate Tom’s/Will’s birthdays!! Paul is really lovely too, think they must have attended the same school of loveliness somewhere along the line. Agree with the others that sitting in the balcony wasn’t the best place to enjoy the gig, definitely more atmosphere in the stalls. But it was good to get a proper view of the stage setting for the first time – the rugs and lamps etc really do look good when you see it from a bit back. Vocally Matt sounded as good as ever, although I don’t think he pushed it quite as much in Run for Your Life as he has previously, and it’s great that Lorenzo is edging more and more into the spotlight when he’s doing his stuff. Which I think Kate said before we went in that Paul had told him to do. The rocking out in Pull Me Under (still my favourite) just gets better and better - fabulous! As others have said it still could move up a notch with a couple of extra rock-out songs – still really wish they’d put Chemical in the set. Agree it’s a niggle that if finishes with Run for Your Life – good idea of Wkd’s for it to start with that instead. Every time they do Starlight it hurts a little to think that that wasn’t absolutely massive. It is such a good song – and really gets the audience going – I think it is the best for involving the audience of the whole night – despite more people knowing the words to WWC and RFYL. Starlight just gets everyone moving and doing proper giggy things. And it really is so good to enjoy the build-up and the gigs and the come down with people who love it all just as much - makes it all a lot of fun. Thanks everyone! A couple of pics from outside before - first one he's signing Cat's t-shirt twitter.com/#!/GentlyWeeping/status/181135904138723328/photo/1 twitter.com/#!/GentlyWeeping/status/181153996952698882/photo/1 twitter.com/#!/GentlyWeeping/status/181167416007598081/photo/1 and videos www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwzWdvnno1g&feature=youtu.be - Pull Me Under (a little wobbly in the middle where hand actions were called for) www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2heJtJccvo&context=C4b3302aADvjVQa1PpcFM7XJ04Tq_owiV03iTn6nuwCpLrI9RpBGc= - Beat of a Breaking Heart www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jf9qvgfs_xc&feature=channel - Letters Toasty has already posted the Happy Birthday one! Hope everyone going tonight has a fantastic time - can't wait to hear all about it. PS The hostel was educational! chosenturboI guess I ought to post a report before tonight’s show starts! I’m sure my fellow threadies have already covered the events in Newcastle with their usual panache, so I’ll stick to my personal observations... then go back to read their accounts and possibly take a nap! So, every show is different – different city, different venue, different people. This time we were in a lovely plush concert hall, seated in the balcony. I found this had the effect of removing me slightly from the show, turning me into more of an observer than a participant. Good view and acoustics, though! I was afraid it might be another case of everyone remaining seated until Matt told us to get up… but thanks in large part to Sam, Ginger, Ella, Linsey and friends, who resolutely stood from the off, the whole floor section was soon up clapping and singing along It somehow didn’t seem right to do it in the balcony, though, so the rest of us stayed put while wishing for a bit more legroom! The most striking difference from last time was the omission of most of the intros to the songs – I don’t know whether he did this out of respect for Sarah as she was in the audience, not wanting to talk about past relationships in front of her, or whether he decided they aren’t really necessary. I guess we’ll find out whether this was a permanent or temporary change after tonight’s show. Personally, I found the show flowed better without it, but on the other hand it meant less interaction with the audience. Sarah’s presence had another effect – it made for an especially emotionally charged performance, particularly from FTEISYF onwards. FT seemed so much more personal, like he was singing it directly to her – a declaration of love. Similarly in BOABH, he seemed to be stripping himself bare (metaphorically!) and asking for forgiveness. My heart broke a little for him then. Couldn’t help thinking ‘what a beautiful, beautiful man’…:cry: The band is coming to the fore more, Lorenzo especially – it sounded to me like his amp had been turned up more than previously, which was cool. I also noticed that the instrumental parts are not always quite the same and there’s a fair bit of ‘jamming’ going on between the five of them. Shows how in tune they are with each other The song that stood out for me this time was ‘Faithless’ – not quite sure why, but the harmony/melody suddenly appealed to me more than it had before  Sam’s pant-throwing was a definite highlight, and each time Matt went offstage I hoped he’d come back out with them and drape them proudly over Tom’s bass drum Maybe they’ll have pride of place tonight! After the show, it was lovely talking to all three Bullens. Was great to hear how Paul essentially dropped everything for the chance to play with Matt, and from his enthusiasm I got the impression that he would really be up for working with Matt on a more long-term basis (he was coy on further questioning) Wasn’t too bothered about meeting Matt before or after the show so was happy to hang back while others had their moment, (fairly) secure in the knowledge that I’d have my chance in the near-ish future eldracttamPHEW ! ! At last some free time for Cardling. WOW Friday seems so long ago. Won't bother reviewing the Newcastle gig as all you other threadies are such so much more eleoquent than I could ever be. Just some observations :- First I would love to say it was great to meet some of threadies that were outside before the gig. It's super to have faces to the names and brill to meet some of famous ( or will it be infamous ) DD's. LOL at the lady with the pile of photos she wanted signed, aaaw bless Matt, he signed them all too. She offered my a photo, but kindly declined, just wanted Matt to sign my 3 CD inlays. What has this man done to me ! ! I have never got or ever wanted anyones autograph before, never mind standing outside waitng for 2 hours ! ! Oh dear I was in a bit of a state , Couldn't believe I was seeing our boy in flesh never mind standing next to him, Shaking so much I dropped my inlays. Get a grip woman ! ! And then it was my turn to get all close & personal , Should I actually kiss him or should I actually act my age. No go for it ...... a smacker was placed on his cheek ooooo wow his bristles are really soft. It's true what everyone says he does smell ab gorgeoussssssss. (note to self ) Must start a fund up to buy some Channel Bleu instead of going into Debenhams every Wednesday to spray all over, Ha Ha.Big THANK YOU to Sam for the photo, the one Will took didn't actually get the moment of impact. Guess what my screen saver is today. I asked Matt how his Geordie accent is comming on, since he has a personal trainer. He said it was actually....erm rubbish (not his exact word ! ) & he wouldn't insult me by doing it . Ha Ha .Dght also had photoshoot & she's ecstatic he called her Babe, I like sweetheart, but babe floats her boat & he said loved her OOOT ! t shirt, She thought he said he wished Josh could see it ? Any ideas ??. After we regained our composure we went for a wander, recognised 2 girls from photos of the Glasgow gig, remembered their black & yellow sweatshirts. Introduced ourselves, it was ella & linsey, so got some more faces to names. Our tickets were for row d,which we thought would be row 4. when we got to our seats it was actually 2nd row. WHOOP WHOOP. and SUPRISE SUPRISE my seat was right next to Linsey. It was funny we were asking each other are you going to stand, really couldn't imagine sitting in the 2nd row. We STOOD & boogied YEAH. PHEW, Thought I'd be really depressed by now, but no I'm still on cloud 9. Been well & truly Cardoodled[/QUOTE]

March 18 - Belfast ilovemattBelfast was amazing! Have barely slept and i'm on phone so sorry! Bumped into a few twitter pals and i believe JC but I'm very confused if i did as i know her from twitter didnt realise same person. No meet ups at venue before but there was after. i'll do it quick as kids will be shouting for breakie before i disappear for dublin. after gig stood at bck entrance big metal gates, security driver said he would be out in a bit was steaming his throat...he was spraying lube last night! so standing waiting heard girls scream looked the big gate was opening we all charged forward no one there then spotted stage door sign and everyone ran! security guy came out said the venue fire alarm had went off and gates had automatically opened! so we all queued and got our cuddles! i waited until the end was lovely as he remembered me from Dublin. firemen then got picture! oh i forgot spoke to Paul just lovely about marathon and local running routes! Gig Concert was amazing my camera couldnt get good shots at all though. we all stood only to be told to.sit by second song by venue staff! Only everyone stood for starlight FT got half a standing ovation i think people were scared to move at this point! lots of shouting and cheering which was lovely (wish it hadn't happened on first time tho) my non matt friends have been well and truely won over! they loved it said they would go to another gig in a heart beat! agree he should finish on Starlight. i really enjoyed rox cried buckets at Lost as we had lost a young mum just in June so first mothers day without her. i was still crying into her next song so will try not to listen to words tonight! bit embarrassed! right i have 4 hours of real life until i get 2 days of Matt! see you probably shocked it's all over! JupiterCrashAfternoon everyone Haven't had a chance to get caught up on the thread, I will later, but just wanted to give you my review of the Belfast gig IT WAS EPIC!!!! It was absolutely beautiful from start to finish. The vocals were perfect, the arrangement of the songs just gorgeous, the band were playing tight and looked really happy, Matt looked happy and really bloody gorgeous and I had a fantastic view It was PERFECT. I've been to a lot of gigs in my time but it was definately one of, if not the, best gig I have been to. Can I just be really soppy and I hope this doesn't sound too pathetic but it was definately one of the best moments of my life  The setlist, as far as I can tell from the reviews from you guys, was exactly the same. This was absolutely fine by me as it was my first time seeing the show, but I think if I was going to a few gigs I'd be hoping for him to shake it up a bit. I think S & L works really well as the opening song, we were all standing as soon as it started but after the first song the staff made us all sit down (boo) but we all stood up again for the last few songs (yay). You could tell that a lot of people really enjoyed 'first time' but it was actually my least favourite song of the night. He sang it perfectly but I would rather have heard a different cover like SFTTR of MTW, but he did a beautiful job with it and it went down really well. Before the gig I met up with laineyni and paula from twitter for a drink, then around 4 we walked over to the venue hoping to see Matt arriving. We were joined by Lins, Ella, AJ and ilovematt (it was so lovely to meet you all) but by this time some people had bumped into Will in town and we'd heard that Matt wasn't going to be meeting people before the show, just afterwards. There are two entrances for artists at the waterfront and when we walked around the other side Lins spotted his van already in the car park behind huge black gates. We hung around for a while hoping he would come out for a smoke but no sign. I was a wee bit disappointed because I knew that I wouldn't be able to wait afterwards as my sis-in-law and neice were also coming to the gig and I was giving them a lift home. It was a serious case of trying to keep my internet life/massive Cardle obsession secret from people I have to live with who know I'm a fan but are not at all aware of the extent of it  It was a tricky one I had to laugh at one point during the gig when some girls beside us had the MCAG cushion, I recognised the girls from the fb page but my SIL turned to me and said 'I wonder why those girls have a cushion' I said 'oh, they're from the Matt Cardle Appreciation Group on facebook.....my SIL just starred at me and said 'your scaring me'!!!! My pictures and videos....well, let's just say I didn't really realise how sh*t my camera was until last night, I thought it would at least take decent piccies but...no! My SIL got some great ones though I'm still waiting for her to e-mail them to me. Just just to recap, Matt was absoutely brilliant as were the rest of the band. It was a fantastic gig. Daddy Cardle, if your lurking, you should be very very proud of your son

March 19 - Dublin foxyloxHi guys how goes it?? sorry I've been AWOL since last week but been away from home with work, Dublin & a weekend with friends in middle of nowhere! first time looking at laptop yest was in the office (no chance of even a tweet tho as was too busy:eek:) So I'm finally home, with the morning off, let me start about my experience of Matt Mindblowing, incredible, stunning, unreal, AMAZING :eek: Completely & hopelessly now more In Love  Holding in the excitement coming up to it & not looking at YTs etc was incredibly hard, but its something I like doing (Im a gal that barely reads the back of books to see what I'm in for! or reads reviews on films etc) so wanted to be completely surprised & well I was!! Got to Dublin Monday evening, landed in my friends place (let's call her J for simplicity sake) in North Dublin & we headed in to city for around 6.30ish. ( couldnt go earlier to see Matt before sound check as I had a 4 hour drive to do, but Yap said he was very early going in & most missed him?) Met Yap, Ella, ilovematt & some of the MCAG girls in a bar near venue, Hi Yap, lovely to meet you girls! I was aware that all the girls had been apart from ilovematt's Mum & J, who barely remembered Matt singing FT on XF, a real virgin lol. So was prepping her really, without giving too much away! QM came along then *waves to QM if you're reading!! lovely to meet you!!! we headed to Olympia around 8pm & as we were in the Circle in the theatre venue, we were upstairs with no queue ahead of us. (didn't see the merchandise queue out in foyer til later!) Roxanne was lovely, J really got sucked into her music & thoroughly enjoyed it! I love Tug o War & the Elvis cover she sang, but was waiting impatiently for Matt at this stage, sqquuueeing regularly & clapping my hands like a baby seal lol! I sent a FB message to announce where I was, but as I was only going to see Matt once, I just didn't want to be looking at my phone whole time & just wanted to soak atmosphere up completely! I did a few vids but got 3 half songs as I was bopping too much to hold phone steady! So where we were was 3rd row from front in the middle, in the circle (seated) which wasn't massively close, slightly removed from the main, hardcore action of the stalls, but could see everyone very clearly on stage. the accoustics were unreal up there, which was a joy Got ourselves a drink in the break, & all too soon, the stage was being set up with carpets, lamps, & muted lighting, which was gorgeous! Chatting away so no time passed until all the band landed in all ready to go yeeeahh!!! Then build up of music, lights down, thump thump.......MATT HAS ARRIVED!! the crowd went mental, appreciative whistles, whoops, sighs haha! He sprang on from side of stage, my heart leapt at the glorious sight of him! All was well in foxy's world now, he was here!!! So could scarcely believe my eyes that Matt was finally on stage & getting straight into the business of choosing the wife to drape lovingly over his shoulder (had filled in J on the guitars,. she did laugh teehee, still wasn't fully aware that I'd lost my head over Matt Cardle lol.) Now a few things I noted, Matt is not tiny!! Was fully expecting a poppet to tear out the side of the stage, but he's well tall!! No six footer, but he's quite adequately tall! & lean, oh man! Those amazing shoulders, lovely dark lush hair! Those expressive hands, those white teeth I could go on, but theres only 24 hours in a day people! He was dressed in a red & navy check shirt, blue jeans, his lucky big boots, nice big brown Belt slung provocatively around his sexy hips & peek of white underwear lol What a lovely guy he is lads, I really just revelled in his chats, he was just so sound. Chatting away, the atmostphere was very relaxed with every word being heard, including the various "I love you Matt" "Matt you're a ride etc!!!" which had the whole theatre doubling up! One girl had a big long spiel, which noone understood, & Matt announced "I didn't even catch any of that" I was tempted to shout myself, if I was closer I would've, I was in such a haze!! Right, enough of the physicals, let's get musical!! What can I say, a little intro to how I feel about the cd, I just ADORE live music, & I really don't buy many cds at all, for production reasons I guess, like many of you I love Live Albums; while fully appreciating you have to put out studio albums for the masses, my preference would be for a KoKo album or a Letter Tour Album tbh....So that's a little request for anyone who's lurking!! Letters is in my car & so I listen to it daily or even 2nd day at the mo, (always driving) I love Starlight, skip over RFYL, adore AFN- I "shower" sing to it! Pull Me Under is legend, Faithless, Amazing, Stars & Lovers are fillers to me,& i don't really hear them if you understand, Reflections, WOW & Slowly are my absolute faves, esp Slowly, & are repeated once or twice every day! WWC is a great song, but accoustic its just fab...Letters is probably my fave song on the album behind Slowly, just love it, my bro adores it too! & keeps telling me So LOVED Stars & Lovers live, surprise! AFN was epic, Amazing was gorgeous, Slowly didn't move me massively suprisingly enough, altho I would prefer it anyday over the album version. (where does he go after Slowly?? it's very soon after he starts the set like??) Lost & found I adored, prob because I don't listen to it at all, & Chemical & Sparks would've gone down a right treat in this aspect, the surprise element & freshness of L&F was very cool, kinda sorta country & western feel at the start?? or is that just the look of the set here! Letters got a huge regular roar of approval from the audience, my videoing of songs started off ok, but I kept turning it off as I was seat bopping too much & couldn't keep phone steady! So I videoed Letters, but only 1st half, if anyone is interested I'll upload it alright... Definitely an unreal live song it is! FT ....what can I say? I'm a fan, but don't listen to it too much , as I find it quite emotional & get teary when I hear it, but this was all about Matt on Mon night, so when it started (the 2nd & only time he mentioned XF, hope this is the last time he has to mention those words!!) I knew what was coming & held onto the edge of my seat!! You could hear a pin drop while he was pouring out the song (impeccably, emotion filled, oustanding!) & when his voice soared......... I swear hearts were lifted in the Olympia...it was like a little journey Matt took us all on, we were there with him & for eveyrone who knew the story behind his sadness when he sings it, was all the more emotional & heartrending for it, he is just stunning, truly. Ok, I know it's not his song, & I should be lauding his own work, & trust me I do!! But I guess, for a new artist, & it being his 1st time in Ireland (2nd after Belfast) it's a stunning opener to the magic of his voice, his major instrument & the thing that sets him apart from ANY competition winner anywhere in the world!!!!!! Out on his own, he's just on another level. FT will draw in the masses & they will get hooked on his own work as a result..............Winning! Ok on again! I guess I'm not huge on detail & I'm going on my memories of Monday night at this stage, rather than running through the set list, & knowing whether Matt had the wife or the whore wrapped around him, banging out the tunes, but let me give observations Matt is a fine thing. He's a ride as they say here in the most appreciative sense of the term!! my jaw was open pretty much the whole time, drinking him in & trying to take every detail of him to heart & his personality is just gorgeous. what a fine man & what a lucky gal Sarah is, I think she knows it tho so I won't tweet her haha!! J was regularly elbowing me, "jeez he's sexy! Why didn't you tell me this??" All I could do was say " I told ya".....over & over!!! The atmosphere in the Olympia, while relaxed & hushed sometimes, was fully charged & all female eyes were trained firmly on the man himself! Right, stop getting swayed & get back to the music! Letters performance.... I'll go on.......made my heart soar & my hands do the air guitar, I nearly sprang out of the seat to rock out to this outstanding tune, but actually everyone around us was sitting down & head not good for heights & standing up where we were; with my high heels & everyone seated in front of us, was prob not a good idea, spesh after 3 glasses wine!! BOABH, surprise of the night!! At the start, before the lads came onstage & everything was set up & waiting, J asked me what was with all the guitars, 5 stood up & the double bass lying in wait for Remy to work his magic! I said, wait & see!!!!! explained 3 guitar players incl Matt, Paul & Tom also, she was not expecting a full on band. So full on use of these guitars for BOABH!! I recorded 2nd half with my jaw fully walloped on the ground at this stage lol................EPIC Starlight went down a treat, of course Matt got everyone to stand up & join in & it was great to see everyone dancing & singing to Matt, surreal but just great! WWC was actually very special, I just loved how everyone sung along on our own, now I know it's not his song, but it's the most recognisable & it was the nations introduction to Matt as such, just fab!!! So after all that outpouring, I can honestly say I had one of the best nights of my life, it went far too quickly & it's like a happy dream now! But memories are golden, I'm waiting to have him back in Ireland ASAP, I'll bring a gang the next time! (I hid my extreme fandomness well I think lol, but not the fangirling which had to be done!) & I am defo going over to the UK to meet some of you guys to see him also, it just has to be done. If felt like my night wasn't complete without some of you going to be there with me, & I'd love to have shared the experience with you guys. Hammersmith would just be epic for me, & with regret I just can't think about going this time. But next time, let my name be on seat next to Sam, Wkd, Yap, JC,Tilly, Broken, chosen, Crabbie, Pie & all you gals & guys from this very lovely & special Tour Tavern of ours. I look forward to it!! Any Questions? ?? I could go on! Feel like I haven't explained the music or Matt's singing well enough, sorry!!! It was just outstanding!!!

March 22 - Manchester SAMofBEVHey all!! Tonight was immense!! Got a lovely reception from Matt when we saw him this afternoon, he came straight up to me and gave me a HUGE high five!! Got another pic for my collection!! Not much other news I'm afraid, my "stuff happening" powers seem to be dwindling somewhat. Didn't even see Paul in my stalking of the foyer or after. There was soooooo many people waiting afterwards, he couldn't get chance to get round everyone. Got a fab pic of Remy and Tom afterwards and a side profile of Lorenzo but dsmt even see Paul, he sneaked by. It was a bit odd though coz they all had plates of food with them, like a picnic on the tour minibus. popwizzardJust Delurking to say Manchester rocked tonight it was EPIC:D. Went with my daughter and she loved it too ,some very funny moments, the girlies behind us were singing to every song and were so excited about being there we thought they would burst !!! bless . Good job for me its all about the music, as i am quite small so didnt see too much !!!! but watched matt through the camera lense ,not sure, but i think the competition winner was one of the camera lenses i watched .i hope she puts them on you tube because the view was fantastic Was great that everyone leaped to their feet right from the start tonight but would have liked a bit more quiet during fteisyf but cant have it all . The thing i was most impressed about tonight was the number of very cool dudes in the audience, infact chap next to us was probably dragged there by partner, but cheered louder than us at the end ,:cool:another convert me thinks. O saw paul chatting to fans outside by the tour busses and he is pretty fit too will go back to lurking now piebaldladyMorning all So was sorted out in time, friend arrived n OH got home a tad early so we headed off in good time for once! A few stops later for the inevitable coffee intakes we landed at the Apollo n parked right next to the gig, great stuff. As the meet place was a walk away, time was getting on n oh wanted a pint we went to the little pub round the corner n I arranged to see some of the guys there - there was quite a line snaking round the corner of the venue at this point n the tiny pub was packed out. I wandered outside with my drink to see if I could spot anyone walking down n who did I see with my beady little eye but one Mr Paul Bullen who was coming out to meet some friends. Well, being me I just looked at him and said I know you n he looked a tad oh do you now, so I stood back n let him greet his friends before talking to him again. What a nice chap, told him we were all meeting up for hammer smith n what a cracking seat I now had thanks to my friend - the guys are all having a great time on tour. At first meeting when I said who I was ie a duck on twitter, lol, he offered to shake my hand - I quipped I don't really shake hands I give hugs, do you mind.....so Paul got a hug . He also said he needed to tweet more but didn't really know what to say so I just said tweet whatever is in your head, i do n its a laugh - he obviously did just that after the gig last night, lol!! Nipped off to get some chips and then back round to meet up with Sam, wkd n a few others whose names escape me...doodle, lady from mcag on fb, kaz, Linda? Cue lots of squees n hugs all round, so lovely to see everyone, really was guys:). Into the venue at which point I couldn't find my purse so hence no merch purchased at this gig for me (turns out I'd left it at home). Everyone sorta went there sep ways at this point so I only had a quick hi to Moll before we split up. Our seats were indeed upstairs but at the front with a cracking view I gave to say. I tried to find Jackie but again we kept missing each other. Anyhows, support act went down well n we enjoyed it but it was noted that the acoustics were a tad heavy. Nipped out for a drink n the guys were on in a flash tho Matt's arrival was delayed a tad as there was some issue with Toms drums - but being the complete professionals they just quietly played on until Tom was ready to blast in with the drums, Matt appeared n the place erupted!!! I could see most of the stalls stood up right from the off! I won't go thro the set list in detail as such but again for me Matt warmed up within a couple of songs, he was mega confident (my friend commented on this plus he was still humble with it) , the band are tighter than ever n everyone was rockin out big style!! Little tweaks here n there too, just great live music!! I sort of lost the plot when he sang faithless, my friend ended up holding my hand then, bless. FT well, he struggled to get thro it the emotions were so high, even I shouted towards the end - god he dug deep!! Was straight up on my feet after FT concluded n yes it was mared by some shouting but even I did it at the end which surprised me. By starlight everyone was standing n as me n my friend were dancing the ladies to our side also stood up - had to be careful as it was quite a drop to fall off, lol. The encore was just sublime, nothing better than Matt n his guitar n the place sang its heart out for this and rfyl too. The guys really were having a blast, some jaw dropping vocals from our boy n Lorenzo has turned that amp up too - lots of people walkin out saying that was a great gig, best present you ever bought for me etc. Another eve of fantastic live music n I can't wait for hammersmith, being able to share with you guys n get off the leash . The end wkdstepmotherEvening all!! Those who follow me on twitter will know I had the week from hell at work and didn't know for sure that I would even make it to Manchester until Thursday morning - but I did (with my laptop in my bag just in case - thankfully not needed) Arrived at the hotel just before 3 and met Linda who was waiting in reception and shouted over (she recognised the 7S teeshirt) Anyway we had a drink and waited for Sam who turned up half an hour later than then headed to the Apollo where we met Cardoodle (who is even more of a sweetheart than I imagined) and a few others from here an MCAG. Lynne and Sam being in matching Ali Mc hoodies which was both bizarre and hilarious. Matt showed up a little while later and we did the whole meet and greet thing. Sam told Will who I was and he said "oh really? great to meet you" and shook my hand.eek: I didn't bat an eyelid (this being perfectly normal behaviour for me re work) but afterwards I did wonder - what is it about me that makes him think that the right response if to shake my hand? : I think I'm getting a bit for a complex - my easy going fun personality is clearly not transmitting itself to others:confused: Anyway Will then got Matt to have his picture taken with me (I've never bothered before - he's so skinny but taller than I realised when I stood that close) and we chatted. Will asked if I'd really spent £2K (yeah right and the rest) for the Eye thing - so I explained a load of us had clubbed together I was just the spokesperson (which Will said was very "sensible" - that bloody word again:rolleyes:) Anyway Matt said to me he was relearning all the old songs - so I said don't say "all" or we'll never let you off the eye and he laughed and said well not all of them obviously (so hopefully more than one!!) I then asked him to sign my daughter's hat cos she was knackered after Newcastle which is said was sweet (obviously no experience of dealing with tired children then!) She made a very loud noise when she saw it this afternoon:) That's it really on the whole interaction thing we went back after but it was a rugby scrum so we didn't really bother and for the first time he didn't stop for everyone. Unlike Newcastle who I understand organised people into a line, they seemed more bothered about security and getting him out asap (though he did hang around for a while - clearly longer than they wanted him to) So on the the important stuff - the gig. As you know, I've been to York which was great (but the crowd were a bit poor) and Newcastle (where the crowd were great but I was in the balcony with kids which wasn't ideal), so this was my first chance to be in amongst it for one of the later gigs - and it was bloody marvellous. When he came on a bloke behind us (2 rows back not the one immediately behind us who was a very pissed gay bloke who wanted Matt to sign his GT - think he did - who Sam (being Sam) was BFFs with within about 10 minutes of sitting down) tapped us on the shoulder and told us to sit down. Sam ignored him, I told him no very firmly. I thought this might prove to be a problem but within about 30 seconds the vast majority of people were on their feet so it was fine. The crowd were more less hen night than Newcastle and seemed more interested in the music - less "Matt I love you's" but more who clearly knew the album - which was great. Anyway if was so fantastic that I'm gonna bore you all with a pretty much song by song account:o:yawn: Stars & Lovers is so much better live than on the record and is a good song to get everyone going. Amazing is kind of insipid live (sorry:o) love it on the album but it's neither one thing nor the other live and just doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the songs. Letters was awesome as always - I have a real love affair with this song that seems to increase every time I see it live. I could happily watch him play this song for an hour on it's own. Walking on Water is one of my favourite songs on the album yet hasn't really caught me on tour before - I've felt maybe he is uncomfortable without his guitar. Anyway this time he seems to have finally gained enough confidence to pull if off and it was magnificent. Slowly isn't my favourite and it was as it always is - better live but still not my fave. I haven't LOVED the acoustic set before last night but it just seemed to take on a whole new dimension. this may partly be because the crowd were so into it - standing throughout - but he just oozed class right through it. Faithless was just beautiful as was Lost and Found which was on a whole different level to the CD version. I even enjoyed FT (shock horror:eek:) and BOABH continues to make me wonder how I didn't "get it" until I heard it live (and not just the new bit) Pull Me Under continues to be one the absolute highlights of the show and by this time Sam and I were going absolutely mental:D Starlight is an absolute barnburner live. My only criticism is the show fades at the end cos RFYL is shite - sorry it was poor on the album but compared to the live versions of these songs it's shite!! Can't wait for Hammersmith to do it all again CardoodleThank you for all your kind comments re my meeting Matt, still doesn't seem real but I'm still in that post gig haze!! I'm not going to review gig this time as it is my 3rd! only to say The band are getting better if that's possible. Lorenzo is defo becoming a legend and a very handsome man close up!. The crowd were amazing and so many guys there last night, the girls were screaming for him more so than at Rhyl and Liverpool. One of the highlights for me was a guy behind us shouting 'we love you too Matt!'..and we cheered him for saying it..it was just that kind of night. I think our Matt is building quite a Gay following. Not surprising after the GT shoot:D It was lovely meeting fellow threadies..Wkd & Sam are like a double act so hilarious at times and just as I imagined them,JaMak & Pie also lovely,. Kaz & Linda so sweet, we have had many a chat into the small hours of all things Matt! t's so nice now to be able to put faces to names. Also met several of the girls from Twitter. Lynne from MCAG well she's a star, we got on like a house on fire which is just as well as we shared a room! We talked until 3.30 this morning and at one point our neighbours in the hotel banged on the wall we must have been laughing too loud:eek: I had the best night ever, for more reasons than one! and can't wait to meet everyone else next week:) Off to bed as I have some horrendous shifts to do at work to pay the price for all my cardle related off duty requests..but he's so worth it:D
